There's also two sides to argue this. First: you also weren't born on a radioactive, anarchic island populated by ruthless survivors. We play this game because it's not reality. Second: What you look like is almost completely customizable in the real world. You may not have gotten to choose how you looked when you were born, but if you don't think people can change thier gender or how they look, you need to pick up a newspaper.
Can they do that on an anarchic island populated by ruthless survivors? How many newmans does it take to perform a sex change operation?
Yes, I can fire a gun. Yes I can still raid. That's not the issue. I would like the choice for the same reason people like to customise their characters on virtually all other games. You can still play, but might not like the looks of you character. How is this wrong, let alone sickening? It's not. It's not racism, I dont hurt anyone with playing a preferred race or appearance. What if I just really wanted to play as a black female? Racism? Riiiight.. If you make a character in an other game, take World of Warcraft for example. Do you just click "random" and start playing? I sure as hell don't do that.
It's interesting that you chose world of Warcraft as an example because it actually helps prove Garry's point. It wasn't coincidence that 80% of the alliance faction was human. People have some weird stigma against picking truly unique physical attributes, and that's why Garry doesn't want to give us the choice. In WoW it wasn't a big deal because you have nameplates and your character was largely ignored in favor of your name. Rust is going for something a little different, and it ends up being MORE immersive that way. I don't want to see rust dominated by the white male avatar, which is why the best solution for everyone is to simply wait for a character customization mod to come out so the people who really think it's such a big deal can play on that and everyone else can enjoy the equal distribution of character attributes.
Rust isn't about Role Play either. The game is about survival and how to get to the next day. You survive with what you get.
It's about survival until you respawn into one of your 20 bags
I'd imagine it would take just as many as it would take to build code locks, automated mining machines, and automated turrets out of raw ore.
You have quite the imagination.
You have quite the imagination.
You're right. It would probably take less, as character creation would have probably taken place before being dropped on the island, and the level of tech at the main menu is astounding, they can teleport your body to different islands almost instantly.
It's funny how all the girls go 'now you know how I feel' and finally females come in and they're still gonna be men.
I had to take my pants off and check out my own junk to discover I was a woman today. A pretty mean looking one at that.
I was hoping I'd turned into Skin Diamond or Anna Foxx but sadly I'm still a white dude. :(
