• Poll about half block and stairs

I figure fees for the sever I rent are due on the 9th and if we don't see the half blocks back so we can reasonably fortified structures with this upcoming update and wipe tomorrow then eff it as I am a builder as well and will simply cancel my service. Yes the 40 + regular players will be disappointed to say the least, but we gotta make a stand. If they don't listen to us they obviously couldn't care less about their customer and tester base so why bother.

And you're aware that the devs basically won't even notice? I mean, it's up to you if you want to continue to pay for your server or not, but it seems like you shouldn't buy Early Access titles if you've got your expectations set this high.
No, one would expect the devs would seek to actually fix the issue rather then just hack it out of the game. Sort of like going to a Dr. for an ingrown toenail and the Dr. cuts off the entire foot to solve the problem. If you write in a feature and the feature has issues you endeavor to tweek and perfect your code rather than give up and remove it. This is the problem in today's Eff it mentality world.
Facepunch likes to add features until the code is completely unmanageable then start all over. It's more fun that way (for them not us)

I'm a voice network engineer and am constantly working on the engine side of it. So say if certain calls from various carriers are not being auth'd I don't simply tell customers you can't get calls from people using this or that carrier, rather I start running sip traces to ascertain why those calls are not getting through or being rejected or whatever reason it might be. But bottom line is I always seek to make it work. My reputation as a consultant depends on it. So tell me what games you've coded or projects you have managed that work.

Every point he has to make is forged with intent to disrupt the thread and ridicule others. These forums are his outlet for his internalized aggression.
Okay, so you have software experience in an unrelated field with entirely different priorities and reliability demands. So that's irrelevant entirely to how garry and his devs conduct their business. Also, anyone in your company that ever authorized alpha software to be deployed to VOIP production would be strung up by their own lanyard and you know this, and yet you argue as if you expect a production-grade deployment of an alpha game? You need to reconsider what Early Access means.
I used to work for a CEO that attempted to write his own code and would on a daily basis come out to the NOC and say "I'm running some new code in the voice server, lemme know if anything breaks". After a month of that I walked away. And again I answered your question, but you avoided mine by feebly pointing out my inability to understand what goes into coding a game. Are you even a dev in rust, or just a facepunch suck up? I've got quite a few years on you and go back to the punch card and magnetic tape days on the old 360s.
Elix is just a suck up, nothing special. And Facepunch deserves. Credit for doing as much ch as they have but I think most people here funk they are professional game devlopers, they are in essence game modders that have decided to build their own game for a change. It's a huge endevor and they are In Over their heads. I think they are learning but it's at our expense, we are the fools I. The equation as we have paid for their ability to fuck up and simply drop parts of the project or as has happened already discard the whole thin and start over. For the business model I give Gary cudos for the game it's just an aggravating mess now, I will stick with it because I still have some fun although it's not near where it should be at this point.
Datadawg, send your players to my server when you close it i'll take good care of them.

That's literally the BEST reason to cancel a server.
The point is that the person who owns the game doesn't like how the blocks were being used. Buying the game doesn't allow us to have a say in the direction the game goes. There was a local shop that used to have their waiters and waitresses work on roller skates. But they stopped doing that for the safety of the employees. You guys are all acting like we should argue these talking points: 1. but the waiters looked cool on skates 2. i felt like i was back in the 80s 3. the food gets here way faster!! Like seriously. You all should just shut the fuck up and move on from the half block. Imagine in your heads that it was never there to begin with and you will no longer lose sleep. Edit: Sometimes doing the right thing, isn't the most liked thing.
the right thing lol don't you realize where you are, that will never happen around here
The point is that the person who owns the game doesn't like how the blocks were being used. Buying the game doesn't allow us to have a say in the direction the game goes. ... Edit: Sometimes doing the right thing, isn't the most liked thing.
You just said they were removed because the head developer "doesn't like them". Then suddenly the change is "the right thing", some noble act taken in the face of opposition for the betterment of the game, on par with protecting the health of your employees in your asinine roller skate analogy? Well... which is it? Arbitrary bullshit #1 with no underlying necessity... or ... important but inexplicably vague design decision #2 about which you know nothing and are talking vociferously out of your ass? Some people find these futile bboard polls cathartic. Obviously you don't design a game by polling the playerbase every step of the way. But when the developers make what appears to be crappy arbitrary decisions with no attempt at an explanation, I choose not to nod and say "I'm sure it's for the greater good". I've been here long enough to know better. If all these tiresome bitch threads result in a reasonable explanation from Facepunch, maybe a little more communication and less trolling, they'll have accomplished something productive. If you can't deal with the negativity, go ahead and click the big red X on the top left of the page. Then imagine in your head you didn't wander into a thread on a topic you don't care about just to tell other people what they ought to be doing if they were an aloof cool guy like yourself.
Good is relative. Unless we are talking about murder. You might find a song to be good, but I may think differently. The fact is, Garry is the person creating the game. Because he is the creative mind behind the game it is the right thing to do to follow his vision for the game. (He envisioned something different with the blocks. Plain and simple) I'm sorry your maturity is preventing you from comprehending that. When all said and done, there will be parts of the game people don't like. But it will be the brand of the developers, not the shitheads like you thinking you know whats best for his game. You should appreciate that they are even considering your opinions. It's just hilarious how you think they did you wrong by not agreeing with you. That is why I come to the boards. I appreciate the fact that they consider us. Are you here to just troll? Let me know if I can write that in crayon for you Murdo.
shut the fuck up
Holy shit. It's almost like we're expressing an opinion, or something. MIND = BLOWN

Did I get that right? If you had a legitimate argument to add about half-blocks, communication or design strategies, you'd have made it. Instead you contradicted yourself and then appealed to Divine Command theory. If whatever Garry does is "the right thing" and everybody who isn't you should just shut up and like it, this game obviously doesn't need playtesters. It's great that you had an opinion and we're glad you took the time to share it given how much these threads bother you, though ... I don't think we particularly needed to hear what it sounds like when someone gurgles out petty insults and superfluous truisms about who does and doesn't own the game while trying to talk around someone else's genitals.
And now crafting of doors with BPs?
Just like in legacy
Definitely need to add the block back, and the stairs, the new stairs are nice for sure but i am FORCED to use designs i do not like just to have functional stairs I would not have been able to build this without those blocks and stairs, Is this an unintended use of them? please do reconsider this decision.
Now just who the fuck do you think you are MR. Being all creative and all that, that's definitely not a base that a 12 year old with a bunch of C4 can get into in 30 seconds or less, we just can't have this type of thing going on around here
oh well, too bad so sad.
Wow I see what you did there OP. Timing it just perfectly so that the poll would close with 69 votes. You clever girl...
The new shelves are shit. They are so bulky and have 600 hp. I could spam these in my base and they would offer the same grief that half block gave with more hp. I miss 1x1 shelf.
It's obvious they don't care. They don't respond to the overwhelming majority who don't cheat...punishing us for our preferences. I have OCD...I made a post about this before. I have barely played Rust since they removed the blocks and stairs because it sickens me to see work that I'm doing on a wall or a house halted by the terrain dropping too low. Clearly FacePunch doesn't care...so why should I. Just like all pre-release games...they take our money and don't give a shit if we're happy anymore...
U shaped and L Stairs are garbage, why can't they make them line up with the door way? Everytime I need stairs i have to dedicate a 1x2 area just for stairs and a doorway because they don't line up properly, and i don't want to have to jump to go up stairs. Why can't you work on things you've added to the game, instead of adding cosmetic things. We don't need shelves, half blocks were pretty much shelves.... Every time you add something to the game, there's still at least one thing that still is broken. So next time you add something please fix one broken thing! Those god damn stairs!
I do miss them. They made it possible to build so much differently. I feel they do need to replace them and add even more different blocks. Rust is known for its PvP and building now (and hopefully PvE and survival later.) The poll easily answers this question. The people have answered Garry. :garryspin:

Building without stairs/half blocks is so, so, so much boring...
I build a tunnel between my towers with those half blocks
