Looks like you can now run a server without VAC.
Looks like you can now run a server without VAC.
So all the cheaters can stop whining here, and cheat together! Hey at least they'll have an even playing field.
What a well balanced server that would be lol. I hope they incorporate a shield next to the server listing. I wouldn't want to join by accident.
I'm fairly sure Valve requires you to show that VAC is turned off or on in some way before they let you hand out bans with it. I could be wrong, don't quote me on that. An easier way to make sure if there isn't a shield is to join and just stand still for a few minutes, watching the sky and/or the chat. See more then one person flying across the sky, or get killed from 2,000 meters off and nobody's complaining? It's probably a hacker server.
How old are you ? When we accepted the ORIGINAL TOS there was NOTHING about anticheats.... EAC's TOS says you MUST inform your customers of the changes to the service.
stop whining and start to play legit or GO AWAY!
Well, EAC? Lets cross our fingers :)
From all anticheats the only one that impressed me so far was Battleeye tbh.
So any idea when this will be activated? Hacking is getting ridiculous again and I would like to play Rust again at some point.
So any idea when this will be activated? Hacking is getting ridiculous again and I would like to play Rust again at some point.
You'll know when it's activated because you'll have to agree to some prompts about it, and you'll be notified about some changes to Rust's TOS.
Lol i love how you Internet detectives find people on the cheat sites. IT's almost as fun as playing rust. Thank you for entertaining me at work! Great job garry. This game provides the freedom I have always sought in a game. The possibilities are truly only limited by a players own imagination!
You'll know when it's activated because you'll have to agree to some prompts about it, and you'll be notified about some changes to Rust's TOS.
Cheers I look forward to it. The sooner that hacking becomes a less desirable option the better.
From all anticheats the only one that impressed me so far was Battleeye tbh.
BattleEye is by far one of the best I've seen used on an entire game, Arma3 for example. Although demand for Arma3 hacks is high, these hackers get banned within a week (sometimes within a day or two) and are forced to re-buy the game. So BI makes a lot of money off their investment of BattleEye, which certainly does a lot of work to stop cheaters. I would have recommended this over EAC, but I have never used and have no experience with EAC myself.
The guy is standing in a pile of Bullshit ten foot deep. Hackers and cheater think they are smarter then everyone. SO much so they will lie right to your face and think you dont notice. Then ramble on about how smart they are. Its called bullshit.
wow this could be from me,right out of my mouth, i am your fanboy now :D
For some reason this damn thing is asking to install itself whenever I want to try the experimental branch and I'm getting a virus alert.
i love Harry!
Thanks <3
EasyAntiCheat is spyware..... Please Please don't use this software... its worse than DRM... If i had known this game was switching from VAC to EAC i wouldn't of bought it. I'm not against it because i'm some hacker, I'm against it because i value my privacy... I don't care what you do to rust to stop hacking... but gathering information outside of your program is not one of them. how can facepunch guarantee to me that only "certain" information will be collected... how can facepunch guarantee any information gathered from my computer is secure? How do i know information collected will not be sold? how do i know the information will not be stolen? we are not taking about just information about a game, EAC can and does gather alot more information than that. I am innocent untill proven guilty so why should i have my hdd scanned before i've even been suspected of hacking? the police have to gain a court order to do just that... my point is Your unable to give me any type of security because its a 3rd party... your a UK company which means you have legal obligations about the data you collect.

EAC is not spyware because you know it is gathering information and provide consent to having it installed. This is a trade-off you must decide for yourself if you are willing to make. I for one trust EAC and FP not to abuse whatever information it uses to prevent cheating enough due to the better player experience I expect to have by everyone else who is playing it doing the same. It sounds like this trade-off is not for you. By the way, the whole innocent until proven guilty thing is a red herring. We have cops that patrol the streets using prevention tactics, such as radar guns that check to make sure you are following the rules BEFORE they believe that you aren't. We do lots of things to prevent bad behavior before it happens or detect it as it happens rather than wait until after it happens. Video games, by the way, are not a court of law. Lastly, police don't need a court order if you provide consent, which you provide as part of the install.
well it just forces me to use the bypass methods... again not because i'm a hacker but i like to have full control on what information is collected and by whom.... this won't even stop hackers because of the bypass methods, all it does is steal information from normal users.
Bypassing anti-cheats will get you banned sooner or later. Just stop playing Rust if you don't agree with what EAC is doing, it will save us lots of troubles (and a thread started by you, stating that you didn't cheat but were VAC banned all of a sudden).
yeah a vac ban 2.7k days ago after my steam account was stolen and i claimed it back.. would you like to ask valve to confirm? sadly it can't be lifted because its too old no data to prove it wasn't me.. but i'm so ashamed of it i've kept the account all this time.

Guilty conscience? Methinks thou doth protest too much.
Guilty conscience? about what? misreading his post? your not going to get a vac ban because you bypassed EAC... VAC wouldn't know and wouldn't care you've bypassed a competitive program
wow i was very dumb
i like to have full control on what information is collected and by whom....
You do have full control. You can choose to accept and enable EAC to play Rust or you can decline and not play Rust. Rather simple if you were to ask me.

No worries, we don't collect any user specific information nor we really care for such. Scanning HDD would be plain stupid, yeah no. We just want your cheats! Shouldn't we be innocent until proven guilty as well, right?
good luck getting getting the belarus police to not laugh you out of the station when you show up saying "this game added a cheat detection thing withOUT TELLING MEEEEEeeeee"
Not that I give a shit about any of this, but what planet do you live on where you go to a police station to start legal action against a company or an individual?

That's great and all, but I take very little solace while being destroyed by a hacker in the thought that he might, maybe next week or in a few weeks, get banned. If EAC does this faster, then I am all for it. I suspect you are exaggerating the ease of bypassing EAC, either from ignorance or from a desire to sound self important. I can google many things that show people about being unhappy about something, doesn't mean they are justified. VAC and EAC are not in competition. They are complimentary. If EAC can stop hacking quickly, then VAC is not 'superior in every way' despite your hyperbole.

Me ? i dont care :v as long as the game gets hack free they can even look at my naked pics. Also your source is wrong. It's problably from EAC 1 or 2 and that was quite long time ago.
Yeah I have to agree with people like Moonstar, idgaf if EAC's getting up close and personal, since I have nothing to hide, and I know everyone else will have to, "deal with this," so hackers will (hopefully) be less of a commonplace and we can all get back to enjoying the game :)
