They are empty by default.
Yes but do they stay empty when you turn off the server after people played on it?
Yes but do they stay empty when you turn off the server after people played on it?
Afaik they do not work atm, server.cfg hasn't worked the times ive tried it, however my bans have always stayed.
Afaik they do not work atm, server.cfg hasn't worked the times ive tried it, however my bans have always stayed.
Yeah, do not use server.cfg yet. All you need is to customise your command line. When it comes to the steamcmd command, we always use app_update 258550 to update.

app_update 258550 -beta development validate
Thanks.
nope ;(
nope ;(
You have logged in anonymously? and not with your steam account login anonymous (don't use your steam account.) THEN app_update 258550 -beta development EDIT: forget that just tried it you get an error message if you are logged in using your own accout.
Afaik they do not work atm, server.cfg hasn't worked the times ive tried it, however my bans have always stayed.
Yeah but everytime I restart the server the data is wiped... is that normal?

Just red a few topics and what i mean is, im using it on Linux. Does it even work on linux ?
yea i did it with anonymous, but still its not working. Just red a few topics and what i mean is, im using it on Linux.
No its not working on linux at the moment and never has. It was so not working that garry took the linux bins down (thats why you download empty.txt)
Well that's an erroneous pile of shit.
I am getting "no subscription error" I have been waiting forever to finally host rust on my own machines. How do you download via steamcmd without a "subscription?" I tried following your guide but as I said, I get ERROR no subscription. EDIT: derp just noticed logging in with your account messes it up. Go anonymous it is! So happy with you right now garry!
Well that's an erroneous pile of shit.
One option, which I am currently testing now, is to force a download of the Windows server files and run it under Wine. You'll have to install Wine on your own; download is here. cd to your steamcmd directory and start steamcmd with
./steamcmd.sh +@sSteamCmdForcePlatformType windows +login anonymous
Then run
force_install_dir INSTALL_DIRECTORY_HERE app_update 258550 validate
Go to your install directory, find the directory that contains the build you want (Legacy for legacy, Release for current), and run
wine RustDedicated.exe -batchmode
with any other command line options you want to use at the end. In theory, this SHOULD work. I'm going to make sure as soon as this is posted. EDIT: The executable is a 64-bit program. You'll have to make sure you use wine64. Instructions are here. EDIT 2: It might be possible to use the Debug directory instead of the Release directory, as the Debug executable is 32-bit. However, since it's meant for debugging, it'll be slower.
-snip-
It will work, it has already been done here in this thread
Can someone explain to me what a frame object deleted by construct.frameminutes is used for? It is in Garry's link within the Dedicated Server page. -Just finished studying for an Assembly test. Does the frame refer to a frame of a stack data structure?
It will work, it has already been done here in this thread
Could you maybe point me to that post? I would really like to get this set up so it at least sort of works, until we get the Linux server back.
It was somewhere around page 6 if I remember correctly.
Prompt how to make the textures display, trees and stuff? This is if you run the server without setting -batchmode.
Is the Test Level still a usable map i know someone had it running as a server a while back but i can't find the correct code to have it as a map. I guess it's something like "-server.map TestLevel" tried a few different ones but none work.
server.level "TestLevel"

server.level "TestLevel"

can't seem to get it working. thanks tho :)
Maybe they removed it for now:
Level 'TestLevel' (-1) couldn't be loaded because it has not been added to the build settings. To add a level to the build settings use the menu File->Build Settings...
Is linux support actually involved now? I've been away for a few weeks.
no, it was for a short time but garry took it down since the bins were not working
no, it was for a short time but garry took it down since the bins were not working
Makes me sad, thanks for the quick response!
So this may be nothing but I see these errors in yellow when I start up my rust server (On a Server 2008 R2 box). Is this normal or is something broken? I can join the server just fine, just wondering about these errors and if I can make them go away. HDR RenderTexture format is not supported on this platform. This camera will render with the HDR buffers The image effect effect - Radiation <NoiseAndGrain> has been disabled as it's not supported on the current platform. The image effect effect - Radiation <ColorCorerctionCurves> has been disabled as it's not supported on the current platform. Image Effects are not supported on this platform. The image effect Main Camera <Tonemapping> has been disabled as it's not supported on the current platform. The image effect Main Camera <GlobalFog> has been disabled as it's not supported on the current platform The image effect Main Camera <TOD_Rays> has been disabled as it's not supported on the current platform.
Those are totally normal. Nothing to worry about
Why got RUST Legacy removed -.-
well at least something moves in the direction of dedicated servers or Singleplayer, waiting long for that like a lot of ppl. ceep up the good work guys :)
Why got RUST Legacy removed -.-
I noticed it went missing when Garry re-did how Jenkins builds the main branch again. Noticed the legacy server branch on steam is empty as well, dunno if this is intentional or not.
My Server wont load old save's and wont even generate a new map. GJ UPDATE
How to install Legacy Server files... when i do app_update 258550 -beta experimental, I dont get any Legacy folder.. only rust_dedicated and thats i
