605? That's entry-level. It should play, but I doubt it will play at any higher than maybe medium-low...

I'd say minimum a GTX 650 or 560. You can get a GTX 660 pretty cheap nowadays too. Under $200
Hey guys, just wanted to know if my build currently would be good enough to run this game smoothly without any lag spikes on a 1920 x 1080 resolution
CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 965 BE @ 3.4Ghz
GPU: Radeon HD 5770
Motherboard: ASrock 870 Extreme 3 Rev 1.0
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 2x8 (16 GB) DDR3_1600 at 9-9-9-24
Storage: Plextor M3 Pro SSD 64 GB
Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm 500GB
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Power: 620 W

I have almost the same settings but a tad bit better
Could i run this on my laptop with these specs? What graphics and how many FPS?
CPU: Intel Core i7-3610QM 2.3 GHZ OC'd at 3.3GHZ
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GT 650M, 2 GB
Ram: 8 GB
HDD: 750 GB SATA
for some reason even with the grass repeating textures turned off and a few mods to reduce graphics it still runs at around 20-30fps at its best. I presume it's because the game is still in alpha and for some reason the devs have not made the game to run on the 600-700 GeForce GT series but I'm not exactly sure why.
If anyone has an answer of what might be going on that would be wonderful but I still cant figure it out. Ive updated both my drivers for the CPU and GPU but still no fix.
but I'm just letting you know i almost have the exact same specs and the problems that I have with Rust so far.. :/

you should be able to play.. dont expect high framerates..but probably enough to play on medium settings
upgrade your HD 5770 to something from current few generations and at least midrange one.. like 7850 or R260+
or nvidia 660+ or 760+, if you have plans for upgrade or money.

650M is quite a lot weaker than desktop 650 sadly. and even desktop 650 is quite a weak
650Ti is little better already.
probably you can get some more out of it when you tweak some settings in games cfg files.. search for threads for that in this forum
should be.. on medium at least..maybe even high
the problem is that your card is considered as legacy by AMD, so you have older drivers which may have some issues with game
Thanks for the answer, just needed some reassurance before I purchased :)

I'd wager about the same.

Probably not, might play on high though.
CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1045T 2.8 Ghz
GPU: HD6770
8 GB of RAM and a 1.5 Tb HDD.
Just want to be sure.

You should be fine maxing it, if not, it will play on high, that's a medium-high end card from the 6000 series and still reasonably new.
Im not sure if this may have already been mentioned but there are ways to greatly improve fps, even on old machines.

As I'm currently saving for a new rig im just using a laptop only designed for basic tasks.
CPU: Intell i5 3317U ~ 1.7ghz
RAM: 4gb
Integrated Graphics: Intel HD 4000
Before reading the link i experienced 15-20 fps, now i'm 40-50. I play on fastest settings although i can change my resolution to 1024x768 full screen and it still plays nicely.
I am getting a new laptop.
Dell Inspiron i15rm-2686sLV
Haswell Intel i5-4200U 1.6ghz-2.6
6gb ram
Intel hd 4400 graphics
500 gb 5400 rpm hard drive
15.6 in 1366x768 hd
Will it run Rust?
Intel hd 4400 graphics
You would be much better off with a discrete video card. That does not look like a gaming laptop in any way, and your CPU and Intel HD graphics are not going to serve you very well.
Ok I didn't get i yet. I am looking for a good laptop to use for gaming and then schoolwork. Have any suggestions? I'd like it to be under $700.

Pick one.
Oh man that's a hard one. I'd pick the gaming one. I really cant go over 1000 as I'd use this during high school and buy another for college.

If you are looking for that in a laptop, then you probably won't be finding it unfortunately. However, if you raise that budget a bit this should do you pretty well. You can even opt for dual graphics, which is a real performance booster!
If you want to buy a computer for gaming, a gaming laptop is the single most expensive choice this side of just making it a ridiculously overpowered beast with a billion cores, unfortunately. And a non-gaming laptop really isn't fit for intensive 3D gaming. It'll run 4-year-old games just fine, probably, as long as you don't turn the settings up too high...
But Rust is an unoptimized alpha being developed right now, so it's going to be bad news on a non-gaming laptop like the one you're getting.
I do like that one recommended by jonny. It's a nice one. What difference do the graphics cards things make? What is the difference between the U and M at the end of the numbers? And, if possible, is there a nice laptop any cheaper than 850?

The M usually refers to "Mobile," since it is in a laptop and not in a standard desktop form factor. Not sure about U. Anyways, the mobile GPU there on it's own should be enough to play rust maxed or at high settings, but if not, adding the second one into the ultrabay will be plenty, as you essentially have a second GPU. I've got a friend who has one, and he says it is an excellent laptop, just the right size and it has these cool lights in the keys.
Alright. That sounds amazing. I guess i would get it sometime this summer. Thank you a lot. Have a nice experience with rust and steam and thanks for helping me.

Assuming Haswell: M is a 37 watt processor. U is for low wattage processors, this means either 15 watts, or 28 watts if it has "Iris" graphics. Y is for extremely low wattage processors, under 15 watts. There are a few other suffixes for the high end processors too.

I never said it was, i was using my laptop as an example that non gaming computers can still run rust by following the instructions on the link provided. Read before you reply.
