Wanna know something funny, BioRisk? Your WP site ignores/overrides Chrome for Android's "request desktop site" option to break out of the mobile version. :v: You can install the Android SDK and run an emulator on your desktop. It's free. http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html

Just look at wikipedia on a mobile device. It does not look bad at all.
Haha. It's not gonna happen over night. Obviously. But in comparison to others, my article quality is much higher.
Much lateness, I'm aware... But.... Ignorance is bliss, isn't it?

Any more suggestions?
Write more pages ... (?)
Write more pages ... (?)
Har Har.
Where's your dedicated team at? I still see pretty much nothing on the page and its been awhile.
I've got a suggestion. Unless you really need a Wordpress entrance page that acts as a literal roadblock between "therustwiki.com" and... the, uh, wiki, take the stuff you've got on WP and dump it onto the wiki itself. First, write it out (use what you already have), then work on the theme. Wikis don't have to be sparse lists of content categories with a brief intro blurb; they can have fairly significant amounts of information. Some people will prefer to read it all, others know that they want stuff accessible through the navigation options instead. And, I hope you two are working on articles behind the scenes, because otherwise we have passed 10 days of this wiki's life with one article being written and then lost by a fresh install of MediaWiki. I'm not expecting them to be OED-quality epics, and you don't have to show them until they're ready, but I hope that's happening. PlayRustWiki has added 98 new articles in that same period. The more you faff about with getting it pretty, the further you fall behind and the less relevant and useful your project is by comparison to the others. I wasn't trying to be a jerk to you this whole time, I was trying to help you avoid Web Project Newbie Mistake #1. And while what you have looks good, I'm sorry to say that you're following the trajectory fairly close. Seriously. The #1 most valuable attribute of a wiki is the information it already contains. The #2 attribute is the collaborative editing aspect. Snappy design is somewhere around #7. I've been trying to convince you to shift your priorities, and you've chosen in the past to interpret it as harrassment.
when he overwrites it to different platforms and devices
what does this even mean I think you should step back and think about what you wrote.
We need a third... why?
We need a third... why?
This is what's on my mind. What makes this wiki unique? How does it stand out from the other two pre-existing wikis?
This thread took a dump quick..
<insert meme here> <sniped>
Too bad my response wasn't a meme, but rather me saying "I realize I am late on this thread..." and then telling you "Ignorance is bliss, isn't it?" Since you're pretty ignorant and further proved it with that post. Also: Just some constructive criticism... you are so far behind, and you're spending more time on here responding to us and acting like a dolt than you are working on getting your wiki, which is #3 now, and completely unneeded... up to date. To top that... you dared to even say your content was better than others' which is a typical viewpoint of a biased and subjective person. A true author, always has room for improvement and is always humble... not an arrogant assclown like what you're portraying here.

However, it's not a race against time at this point. PRW is already out. it's done. It's growing. I know. Why fondle with making content, instead of taking true time, to reinvent the way my site looks and works, yeh, they're probably at 100+ pages now since my start or w.e, but I can take the time, given I have a fair bit of play, to make the site look good, and work, I could understand needing the content out asap if I was trying to be the first, but I'm not, and I know i'm not the first or even close to it. Okay. BioRisk, wauterboi and I have asked you this directly and you've ignored it. Snickerdoodle just asked you directly, and your answer was, "that's what I'm trying to do." I'll ask again: What is your wiki going to do or have that makes it unique? You still haven't answered this. I understand you're working on it, and I'm not getting on your case about article count or lack of content. I want to know what you are planning to do. You need to communicate some of your plans to the community. If you have good ideas, you may find more support showing up. We've been asking you for over a week to explain what makes your project unique, and you've avoided or ignored the question. I've been trying to get you to communicate some of your ideas and plans because that's how people can decide if they want to be a part of a project. A project with a clear vision that's spelled out in concise and clear words does a lot to show that you have a long-term goal for the project. A project that is flying by the seat of its pants is probably going to collapse from lack of planning and preparation and lack of or loss of support. I've been trying to give you advice this whole time. Good, solid, but tough and perhaps unwelcome advice. Please tell us what you have planned. You don't need to detail every single thing, but give us a broad overview. Pretend you're coming to us to get us to invest money in your wiki like it was a company. Investors need to know why something is even worth their time hearing about it.

I was really interested in being part of one of the rust wiki's so when I saw this thread I thought I'd hold on to see if this new wiki is going to become something I want to contribute to. However after reading this thread for the last few days, I've came to the conclusion that it definitely isn't. For me, there is not enough transparency in what you're doing and what you're trying to achieve with this new wiki and there certainly isn't enough physical evidence on the wiki/site itself to suggest that what you're doing is something unique. I also think you need to learn how to take criticism a bit better, you shouldn't be so defensive when people ask questions or give feedback (good or bad) as it is really off putting to potential users and contributors. I really wish you luck with your project, however I can't see myself or many others getting involved with it at the moment.
I like how was reading the thread a while ago and still has not made a comment on elixehitetail :v:
Okay, now there're links to "popular streamers". And a link to one twitch stream on the main page (which keeps appearing and disappearing like the tide). No changes at all on the actual wiki. Coming up on two weeks since it "launched". I knew it.
Isnt there already a wiki? http://playrustwiki.com/wiki/Play_Rust_Wiki_-_Main_Page Why are you making a other one?
Isnt there already a wiki? Same story with people making entire Rust forums to talk about Rust while you can do that perfectly here.
well , maybe im just commin out of nowhere, but i think... We are a community right? (atleast i like to think we are one) so why not use the powers of it? If it was me who wanted to make a wiki, one thats better than the current BS available, id try and use the power of the community behind it. like you stated on the first post, how you all warned us that its your project. id do the opposite. id open mine website up for contributors. im a fairly good programmer, web designer. but if i also needed to write 6000 pages to keep up with the other wiki's, id divide the work and let the community do a part of the work. let them clean the source codes, let them send in page contribution, let them design the site. it would satisfy both parties. you as the admin who can focus on other stuff. and the people with contributon, im sure they would be proud to do something useful. derp out xD
He wants his share/fame of the community i guess. Same story with people making entire Rust forums to talk about Rust while you can do that perfectly here.
I'm sorry, I didn't realize me wanting to actually do things for the rust community meant I wanted a piece of the "fame". While I was out, I was looking into some bootstraps to use, and some other fun things, Played around with developing new things that you asked for. You couldn't give me a few days to work it out could you? You realize that I am still working on it right? You guys asked for unique things, I'm trying to make Useful AND Unique, Just because it's unique doesn't mean it's useful. http://www.therustwiki.com/calc/ [editline]6th February 2014[/editline] >and before you say "Yay you made a page that does basic math" It is basic math, but the information retains on the page per-user. Meaning you can check multiple things and keep them there, and it does alot of basic math at once, more items will be added.
I'm still waiting for you to communicate what you actually plan on doing. Working on it is fine, but would it hurt for you to share your vision with the community? I'm not ragging on you for lack of content, here. I'm asking for the roadmap.

Create useful and easier to understand information.
A collection of useful tools and information. Design and develop new tools and useful thinga-ma-bobbers. Create useful and easier to understand information.
Could you be more specific on these plans? Three vague bullet points with goals like "create useful information" don't really show clarity in your vision. I mean, hey, if you can pull this off, great. I've said this for four pages, if you are doing something unique and useful, you'll build community support. But I'd like you to elaborate. Again, I don't need a complete picture of every tiny detail, but some ideas of exactly what your project is going to look like and be useful for in six months would be useful for the rest of us. And when I say "look like," I don't mean the visual stylesheet, I mean the actual content. But thank you for finally answering a question after ignoring it for over a week.
