The misery in germany post ww1 was because of their loss in ww1. again a conflict where germany was one of the main aggressors. Not in the name of nazism though.

Hitler did not want gold, Hitler's new currency was work for work, so the new bill was in representation of work and not gold. This is why many have followed him, not for killing and destroying as you say.
The allies did steal gold because they did not want the idea that the worker owns the work, but rather that the gold is the owner of the work.
