This wipe on Rustopia me and my group of 3 raided a base thinking it was a hidden clan base it ended up a being a new guy who had quite a decent base for a newbie i was sorry and didint want him to quit the game cuz of me so i gave him a box and half of stone guns and gear that i had gathered from bad zergs nearby and helped him setup new base. Also later up ended up raiding the zerg base and getting lots of juice that went to the newbie.
TC raiding has fu*ked the game.
Wait...I am confused. Wasn't going after a base's TC an objective of most raids?
These devs are fucking rubbish. Problem is at the core of face-punch there is no leadership. or mediocore leadership at best. watching rust develop is like watching a ice cream truck drive by a school for special children.. Nothing.. but.. pure autism. I wish senior management would just sell there game to competent game devs. Rust had so much potential and it was on the right track. Now they will be abandoning it and say 'its completed' as they cant be fucked adding actual mechanics and content when they can just make people grind more for the same shit No mans sky 2.0
Why are you active on their forum? Uninstall and play some other game.
Centrelink que must be getting shorter for you to be here
Can you submit this in a sentence legible to people that can read?
Poor kid. What do you want? Just build a base and do nothing? Wake up kid. Upkeap is easy. Just think.
Yes, player's are quitting. players quit all the time. However I do agree the need for scrap, upkeep resources, materials for base defense, food, etc are pretty excessive atm. TC raiding is a major problem that needs to be adressed asap. preferably when they refine how the Upkeep system works. The devs only have the Core systems in the game. They're not even close to done.
Wasn't it made so that breaking a tc won't give you the loot inside? In that way, tc raiding is only a way to grief players, and should be fixed by the admins of that servers.
Upkeep hadn't been an issue for my small group and I (3-4 players) until last week when a few old teammates decided to play the wipe. We ended up being a group of 8 and so built a larger base than we normally would. The actual cost of the base upkeep, although it went up faster than i think it needs to as the base got larger, was manageable for our group size: 25k stone, 9k metal, 52 hqm. The issue was how often we needed to fill it up, like every 15 hours or less. I love that Rust is a hardcore game but we don't play every day (nor should you have to) and so it felt like a chore to have to login and fill up the TC. It just didn't feel right or fun. It might be that this is an intentional to nerf clans but honestly i think it just promotes the no-lifer behaviour prevalent in clans, maybe the devs want that, i don't know. I thought about some kind of system where you could bank the mats in the TC and if someone blew it up the would get everything inside it but honestly people would exploit the hell out that. So a solution that is a nice compromise would be to add 3 or 4 storage rows to TC and make it building material exclusive. Sure no-lifers who also happen to be in clans will use this to their advantage but let's be honest, they're already logging in every 3 hours to fill up their TC lol. For the casual big to medium groups, who are likely the majority of the current players and potential new ones, it would be a big QoL boost and would likely stop a lot of the complaints about upkeep. TLDR; add 3 or 4 more rows to TC storage and I bet there would be a lot less complaints about upkeep.
Remember all, TC's are leaving. And just for additive. TC's originally were placed to prevent griefing people inside their base
You are correct. TC's are plannin on being removed. Makes me wonder what it will be replaced with that will prevent griefing.
No. If you found the loot room before you found the tc, you finished up your raid. Now people are only headed to the TC so they can just wait for the base to decay. Pretty damn lame.
Rust problem not upkeep, cheaters is problem. Even if thay get banned, it is too late, your home already raided. But cheater back with new acc and continue to play. Rust = Cheaterfest
I believe that the TCs are fine, in fact i like it better. It allows everyone to be able to build bases and not just having it so you get a base up then have to do nothing to maintain it and can just have extra boxes of building materials. i do wish that there was a system to add material to add hours and you could fill it as much as you wanted if you had the material.
material restriction (slots) is the core of the new upkeep system. Otherwise you can build a 100x100 squares base and just keep "adding hours" per your suggestion, if you have materials on hand. Build smart, and build minimalistic. Its the same reason guns have "limited" clips... i.e you cant fit 100 bullets into a revolver and just shoot up 5 people at a time... reload timers are a huge part of the "metagame". Thats why reload on pipey was fixed (and "pull out" time was nerfed/fixed as well). Same goes for upkeep. Its limited slots in the TC - so you can only build to a certain point, at which point you either have to log in every "x" hours and it becomes tedious/uncomfortable - thats the point when you think about downgrading/building smaller next time. Its all about creativity and thinking outside the box (terms that many 15 yr olds who play the game have not learned in RL yet)
People don't have the time to play..... once summer rolls around the servers will be lit
Ok. Thank you for the clarifcation. My job has been preventing me from playing Rust, so I am not familiar with the current "raid tactics" that people use. I just lost my base yesterday (not surprisingly). When i got back to my base location, it was completely gone. Strange thing is that there was no kill message. I just respawned. Werid.
There have been two major forced wipes this month already
Wy dont you split your base in two peaces with two tc-s. in that way you can have mutch more tc storage room. if you build it close it would look like it is one base.
There have been times that I have been part of groups where we decided to build mutiple bases close to teach other rather than one big one. While this method did provided more freedom on how to design bases and allow us to cover each other, it did make some of our bases more subceptable to being raided. Luckily, our loot was divided, we rarely lost everything. With the upkeep system having mutiple smaller bases maybe a better option. Especially if you are in a clan/group with players who are not commited or who don't help gather resources.
exactly
Personally I enjoy the system because in the long run, It saves not only server resources from HUGE compounds being build easily and players having to render them as often since players have to pay a 'tax' to keep their building up which is nice.
From my experiences, people hit the TCs because most people are locking them and hiding their good resources inside. (HQM, Sulfer, Gun Powder.) I generally don't touch the basic resources in an unlocked TC. However, with a locked TC there is no way of knowing whats inside unless you destroy it. I would say that is probably a big reason why people hit the TCs also. Of course, there will always be those people that want to screw people to the max. Try finding unique ways of hiding your TC. Don't leave it on the first floor and surround it with traps.
If you dont like the decay system go on a server that has it disabled, I do , not that it is difficult on a modded server but because you get too many players who jump from server to server and leave crappy bases when they leave, the server has a decay plugin which removes all the wood and stone bases for those that are too lazy to build metal ones, they sure do cry when they come back on and the bases are gone I dont like bp wipes because i have been through a lot of them but you just have to live with it, it pisses off the new players who want everything handed to them on a plate , you give them advice the server gives them all the info but when things go wrong they say "oh , i didnt read it" The server i am on gives you a lot of good stuff but also a lot of things to kill you, kind of balances things out, you work hard you get more its as simple as that,
Sorry for the off topic, how the topic owner name is red? Curious only. About new system , its good, but we are waiting for more good TC GUI, cant put too many resources , and you have to check regularly TC for upkeep time.
His name is red because he's banned. More slots in TC will require entire GUI rework, as Helk said.
I do not want then coloured red name. Uhh form where? Forums, game or? Also i know will require new gui, but for now they can add simple count gui you place items and you see 10.000stones, 250 cloth, 4.600sulfur in TC and that ounter can stack stuff idk with limit 700/10,000 metal frags. Looks stupid but i just idea.
You raise a good point how new players don't understand wipes. Wipes are necessary to keep the game fresh, put everyone on a level playing field, and to ensure any updates are installed smoothly. Actually, is this mentioned anywhere the tips and tutorials? Perhaps that should be mentioned to give some warning to new players. I have recently been playing with some new players and they all did not know about how the official servers wipe monthly. I have an idea when it comes to TC and upkeep, but I need some information firsts. It sounds like that raiders destroy TC's because they want access to the loot that is inside. What if that was changed to you can only put the materials in the TC that it is feeding it? Such as if a base has medal doors and stone building parts, a player could only put in metal fragments and stone? That way, when it is raided, the players raiding the base can determine what is inside the TC by looking over the base. They then can determine if they think it is worth it to destroy the TC or not. What do you all think?
