I'm having a repeated issue as of this wipe where Rust will freeze - or as Windows Event Logs describes it - "app hang."
The program RustClient.exe version 2018.1.4.12431 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Security and Maintenance control panel.

The game will be running absolutely fine and then will suddenly just stop - and I'll get the blue swirling circle and Rust will either unfreeze or after 2 - 3 minutes of waiting I'll have to force shut the game down.
Then, without fail, I'll have to spend 2+ hours of booting, logging in, crashing, before it stops and I can run the game normally. I've tried reinstalling, verifying game files, shutting down my computer, turning everything else off - I will literally have to devote 2 - 3 hours of launching & crashing the game before it will run again after one of these app hang crashes.
System File Checker (SFC) is a utility in Microsoft Windows that allows users to scan for and restore corruptions in Windows system files. Perform System File Check (SFC), and then check if this fixes the issue.
1. Press the Windows button + X on your keyboard, a mini dialogue box will appear.
2. Choose Command Prompt (Admin). You must run the command prompt in Administrator level.
3. On the command prompt type sfc /scannow and hit enter.
4. If everything went okay and no errors were found, restart your computer and see if the issue re-occurs.
Hope it helps.
