https://github.com/Facepunch/Rust.World This is a rough initial iteration of the Rust World SDK. In its current state it allows the creation of tools that load, visualize, edit and save the terrain object from the map file. Working with prefab and path data is not recommended in this initial version and will be added in the near future. WARNING: Only use this extremely early version of the SDK if you enjoy pain and suffering.
thank you guys. big step!
I haven't been that excited about Rust related stuff for a while, the perspective of being creative with the game again (now that in-game base building has become completely predictable & dull) definitely triggers my interests, I'd be really glad if Andre takes his time to deliver a quality framework; can't wait, keeping my fingers crossed.
Damn, that's good. Now we need to find a good C# developer that will make good and user-friendly level editor...
Works really good! (with Adam help) https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1287/efb675fb-7be6-4d12-a292-a64f47595dd4/2018-06-21_11-52-02.png
What's going to stop people from basically turning Rust into Counter-Strike or TF2 where the community only plays on certain maps. I am talking like Cs_office, Dust 2, Turbine and 2fort that generally restricts the player and what they can do. I mean, imagine if Rust basically just became a game where 90% of the community was on one server where they rule enforced two clans(since teams are going to be added soon, this makes it even easier) near a bunch of mines and just duked it out, essentially making Rust a FPS shooting strategy game? I mean, the adventure of running into new things would be gone, some monuments put in the middle would certain be set up for crates, unless the crates are added alone, but overall, the game would just be zergs duking it out. Survival would just be a feature not used if this happened. I am nt saying this is bad, but really consider how this is going to divide the community into two parts where one is focused entirely on PVP and nothing else. The solution I would come up with is that the SDK has some amazing scripting capabilities on par with Gmod so that we could add in interesting events and really develop a PVE environment that could be enjoyed even if you were utterly alone on a server.
OMG Garry this is HUGE! THANK YOU!
Have you spent any time on modded servers? Its not a risk, they're actual things already in play. There are enough Rust players and servers that theres for everyone to play Rust the way they want. Including modded servers that disable and remove the developments that you're not enjoying.
