Men of Rohan, I just bought a used Canon 30D and I'm looking for cheap lens, obvious options are the standard 18-55mm and the 50mm, but I'm having a difficult time choosing between them. Which one would you recommend?
Sorry for the wall of text, just had to spill my heart out somewhere.. Guys, please tell me if this makes sense... I moved to the UK at the start of October, to study at University. Being Lithuanian, we all meet up very fast and are quick to socialise between our self...
Alright, awesome, thanks for the answer. :D
I'm not Portuguese or Brazilian but I was wondering whether Portuguese people understand 100% Brazilian Portuguese and vice versa?
Met this girl on New Year's Eve (had lots of guests) and she was super shy. Anyhow next day she adds me on Facebook (exactly the same time as I was looking for her). Then we talk (rather slowly) about stuff for like 2 days and yesterday I told her this line which worked miracl...
MP3, do my best to find 320kbs or VBR. Otherwise, M4A lossless, and might start using FLAC soon.
To be honest, it is a shame what's going on with Facepunch. I don't understand what was wrong with it before? I thought forums and websites in general were suppose to get better and have more features instead of them being removed for no proper reason, unless I do not know of it?
Pienas, Reksas. Oh yes, we laugh at your language because it's s so similar to ours, yet weird in many ways.
Hahaha, you what? More like vice versa! You basically took all our words that end with -as and removed the 'a'.
Can banned users see PMs I send to them?

I've came up with a short description for Ektar 100: HUGE bias towards red.
And never get a bridge camera. Never.
For good non-English rap I'd recommend Fabri Fibra, really got some good style IMO: I've also started listening to Tech N9ne yesterday: http://www.youtub...
28mm f2.8 + 80-200mm f4.5~5.6 FD mount for 20£ + 6.5£ shipping. Worth it?
Well that's dirt cheap. Are there still a lot of people using film over there or somehting like that? There has to be a reason why it's so cheap.
You see, we are pretty poor over here in Lithuania, so that's not really dirt cheap for us.
Over here it's 0.6€ to develop + 5.6€ to scan 36 exposures.
LMFAO - Party Rock Anthem. Yeah, I know, but it's a good song for some unknown reason.
Amazing pics Pickwickian-. What camera and film?
I hate you frag4life :(
Wait what, FL lens fit on FD mount?
To be honest I was seriously disappointed with the 7D viewfinder of my friend. My first SLR is my T70, so I got instantly used to huge viewfinders. So when I saw the 7D, I was thinking 'what the fuck they were thinking?'. But then I saw a micro 4/3. Now the smallness of that b...
You must develop them, which costs like 0.5$ where I live. Then you can scan it with your Epson.
Just got my Ektar 100 back, super happy with the results, some samples: Pica b...
I gave me Ektar 100 film for processing yesterday, going to get the scans back today. Really excited how these will turn out compared to the b&w I was photographing before.
What the fuck? Why are all the images rotating? (Chrome 12-dev)
I don't have a lot: Canon T70 Hoya 70-150mm f3.8 (and yes, Hoya does manufacture lenses, or at least did) Canon 50mm f1.8 Tokina 28-70mm f3.5-4.5 Tokina 28mm f2.8 (but the focusing ring is broken) I'll post a picture later, can't at the moment. EDIT: Pic, sorry for quality:...
How dare you insult my T70 :( The T70 is a piece of high quality plastic!
FD 85mm 1.2 dude... I'm speechless.
Though a good tool always helps.
Any opinion on the Canon EOS 500? (Not D) Can't really find much info about it in the net.

That's why you need a pentaprism, instead of a pentamirror for manual focus. Bright huge pentraprism.... Yeah.:smug:
the me super is manual evertything but exposure. you learn more from it
But then again, you can be manual everything on a T70 too.
Was I super lucky that I got my T70 for £25 or just the Pentax ME Super is better? (Since it's way more expensive on eBay)
In my country it costs 2 Lt which is approximately 0.51£.
To be honest I was displeased with the performance of the Ilford XP2 for its price.. Was expecting it to be at least as good as PAN 400, but it wasn't...
Actually most of us film photographers just post in Creative Photography thread right now. But great shots andy, some are a tad generic, but others are great. What film and camera do you use?
I bought it through eBay, seller has 100% feedback so obviously didn't even dream of someone being wrong. Meh, sent a message to him, see what he says.
Just received my Tokina 28mm f2.8 (FD) for which I've been waiting for 3 weeks and the focusing ring is broken. (Won't change focus) Fucking. Great.
Amazing photos H4z3y. I especially like the colours - they're amazing.
Just scanned a roll of XP2, and to be honest, it came out worse than a PAN 400, which is almost twice as cheap? Not sure what's going on. Uploading now.. [editline]27th April 2011[/editline] [img]http://farm6.static.fli...
In Lithuania everyone from the age of 13 is an alcoholic. (Even though I don't drink, so can't say everyone)
Up untill now I've used 3 different films: Ilford PAN 400 - which is quite good for its price, it's rather clean in terms of grain and the quality is quite good (it's black and white). Kodak Gold 200 - piece of crap. The colours are all over the place, graininess is HUGE. In s...
Looks nice, though 1211 seems a tad overdone.
Also, DigitalRev about 1100D:
You got me wrong, I love old stuff, just for the single fact that they're old. They use weird technology that we no longer use, or actually use the same, just many years ago. That's why I have myself an SLR from 1984. I find it amazing what we had even back then. So of course,...
Last thing: choice is lens is much (much) smaller. Also, dude, I'm not attacking you or anything, it seems that you kinda got offended or something.. I didn't mean to offend or anything, just say my opinion..
ellaborate on why that's terrible... It has no moving mirror which means it's far more stable, the leaf shutter is inside the lens so you can flash sync at any speed. if having multiple lenses is such a terrible idea then how come cameras like Leicas are ...

Same thing here H4Z3Y - very easy to focus on my Canon T70 in the light, but when it's too dark, can't see for shit if it's focused or not.
H4Z3Y - did you scan the film yourself or at a photo laboratory?
BldrGyMnGy - not sure why, but I'd really like to see more blacks in those pictures, too much white for me.

Hehe, just bought a roll of Ilford XP2 400 for my T70. Gonna take pictures with my 50mm f1.8 and 28mm f2.8 only on it.
I'd say go for a 50mm 1.8, preferably a new FD mount over an old FD mount. Either way, you'll be getting an AMAZING lens for the price. the 1.8 allows a lot of light and shallow focus, and it's pretty sharp and takes excellent pictures. The 1.4 is quite...
FD 55mm f1.2 is on sale right now on eBay, you can get it for a mere price of 290US$. Also, there is an FD 85mm f1.2 for £630.
Why not send it for warranty?
I am trying to get a picture of my (girl) friend's eyes, but they look amazing only in sunlight, and it's hard to catch such a picture when she won't let me :|
It is easy to see where the focus is with any f-stop when you have an older SLR, which has that circle thing in the middle of the viewfinder.
Meh, get a proper telephoto lens and be far enough. Set focus to infinity - perfect picture.
Real men don't need autofocus.

Whoo! Scanned today my second roll (Ilford 400). Came out a million times better than my first roll. Gonna post some pics soon. (Inverting, fixing colours, etc.)
To be honest shallow dof looks good.
Probably only picture from the whole roll that came out ok (in terms of quality): Kn...
Just scanned today my first roll taken with my T70 and all the pictures came out really bad.. Really disappointed :/ Maybe the second roll won't be as shitty.
I gave my first film for developing today. The shots were taken with my Canon T70 and 70-150mm f3.8 and 28-70mm f3.5-4.5 lens, so I'll see the results tomorrow and post if any picture seems ok. I also have an Ilford 400 B&W in my camera at the moment, will develop that too wh...
Only one that looks ok: HTC Touch Diamond 2 aka Topaz (5MP f2.8)
Ah, forgot to ask, is 70-150mm f3.8 considered to be good lens? Since my other lens are 28-70mm, but f3.5-f4.5. I guess the first one is better?
Can I have a a clear conscience when I rang and emailed them about it and they didn't reply, and have also probably lost my 35mm 1.8?
Haha, well, if they're that incompetent, then sure, I'll give you that. EDIT: Post 1000 :v:
HTC Touch Diamond 2
Just received my Canon T70, when I get some pictures developed I'll post them.
Oh yeah. (Sorry for the picture quality, taken with my phone)
I took that picture with 250mm lens from 15meters above ground (I think it helps a bit).
Thanks. I don't want to fill the whole frame, cropping will do fine. I have 70-150mm lens, I'll buy a 2x teleconverter (they're cheap for FD mount), which...
What kind of lenses do you need to take such a picture of the moon with a full-frame camera?
Still haven't received my T70 from eBay... Been waiting for 18 days already.
MisterM - be nice and refund them the refund. Just for a clear conscience.
I really don't recommend bridge cameras. They're shit from personal experience. They're trying hard to be DSLRs while in reality they're just overglorified point-and-shoot.
The Salmon - it's so big because it's a medium format camera.
Wow, 50mm f1.4 for such a low price? Lucky you, cheapest FD f1.4 I can find costs around £100...
Woah wtf.. I've never even thought about looking at the moon from the southern hemisphere... IT'S UPSIDE DOWN...
Holy shit you're right.. Wow, this is so weird.
50mm 1.8 or 1.4
Too bad the 1.4 is 3 times over my budget.... The 1.8 is doable, found some for 25£.
Of course I know it's manual focus - it's an old camera. I really don't care about auto-focus. Also, I plan on getting more lens, just need to get the camera first and test the lens that come with it first. Hopefully I'll get it tomorrow or Tuesday. Also Number 2: Can you re...
Bought a Canon T70 with Tokina 28-70mm f3.5 lens from eBay about a week ago. Was 25+10£ so I guess it's a pretty nice price for "excellent condition" camera from that era. Waiting for it to arrive, gonna take some pics, see how good it works and how the lens are. Picture of i...

I bought my HTC Topaz almost a year ago for 318€ with a 3 year contract and paying 5.5€/month. I also get 350 free minutes for these 5.5€.
