May be a graphics card problem, or you installed something that fucked them up. Have you tried just taking the materials from the Half Life gcf? Just try opening it up and pasting them in your half life folder, in their respective folder locations of course.

If you want to know how to host a dedicated server, don't do all that junk. Just go to the gmod wikipedia and it will guide you from there. Just remember that your pc has to be pretty decent at least if you want to host a dedicated server.
