Fuck off EA
Aaaaand now Mojang is in the same "KICK ASS DEVELOPER" catagory as Valve. they aren't greedy and realize how to make their games memorable. EA just puts out a game from their developers and rings the money out of it like a wet towel until there is nothing left but ripped fabric. Valve on the other hand nurtures its creations in order to keep their fans happy and in turn make a good impression for their future releases. Problem with EA is they think in the present. Valve and Mojang seem to think to to future. And thats why I love them. just to make clear I understand that EA =/= equal developer of games. Its just the publisher.
Except Mojang is yet to finish a single game, and only has a single game in beta phase that people play. Their next project is expected to be crap, whereas Valve has released many games, even though it's a very slow pace. And EA are owned by shareholders, that yes for them money is everything, they're businessmen not gamers, and they want to see EA make whatever makes more money safely, not experimental games.
EA would just shut down the servers in about a week.
I hope Minecraft does go on Steam some day. It would probably get him a load more sales anyway. Then there is the part of pissing off EA. And if Valve took over Mojang, atleast any DLC would be free.
How do I somehow doubt this?
minecraft has grossed something like 15 million US dollars. Notch is pretty rich.
Thank you Notch for not selling out, or else pretty soon we would see, "Introducing exclusive DLC! Pre-order NBA 2K12 and receive the exclusive Endermen Jersey and Baskeball set while supplies last. ONLY AT GAMESTOP!"
I don't see Valve fucking wrecking their own games with a half-assed update or taking an unreal amount of vacations.
Team Fortress 2 when down the shitter when they released polycount. It's just not as fun with all the new weapons. some hats are cool though

I mean, getting people to pay for an Alpha version of a game and then promising to finish it but instead going on constant vacations and starting development on a completely new game is super kick ass
I wouldn't mind a Retail Minecraft, it'd be neat to just to see the box art. But its such a small game, (file size) they could distribute it by thumb drive.

Yes, that is fucking great. It is fucking incredible. The game is massively more fun than many games available on the market currently, is less expensive, and continues to receive new content all the time. So yes, it is super kick ass.
I'd go for that, I happen to have a floppy drive lying around somewhere...
I don't see Valve fucking wrecking their own games with a half-assed update or taking an unreal amount of vacations.
Have you ever noticed how much bitching goes on every single time Team Fortress 2 updates? And how sometimes an update is just "Added upcoming promo items" and a couple of bug fixes? Or simply content made by third-parties that they simply toss in to the game without really applying any effort to the overall creation of those items? Have you ever, once, noticed that? Simultaneously, have you ever noticed how Valve is a large corporation, not a small team of people? Also, have you noticed how we never here about the vacations Valve employees take, meaning we have no way to gauge how frequent they are and no way make an accurate comparison?
They would require gamespy comrade or some horse shit to play online.

I'm glad it won't go Origin exclusive, I've been waiting for Minecraft to be on Steam pretty much since I bought it. Yes, I know it would make almost no difference, but I like having all of my games in one location. Makes it more organized.
Good on you Mojang, good that you didn't drop the drawbridge, don't let the vampires in. EA caused that shit to happen, and Mojang wants out!
I enjoyed that. On topic though, I really think it is better this way. Minecraft came from indie roots, and I would hate to see it commercialized.

Notch was enough of a genius to put the only guy that's actually a good coder on a side project and shitfaced enough to actually say on his Twitter that he didn't notice his majestic update flop until it was too late. You could find a good amount of those bugs easily. Also, even if Valve takes an amount of vacations that rival Notch's, they at least don't go waving their dicks around screaming "I'M IN LAS VEGAS, CAN'T WORK ON GAME LOL" like Notch. Stop worshipping the guy like he's a deity.
Stop worshipping the guy like he's a deity.
Stop acting like he raped your dog because he doesn't do secret Friday updates anymore. I don't care how long Notch takes to "finish" the game, because I got my money's worth a long, long time ago.

And just like you, I also don't care about the game being finished because I already got satisfaction out of my purchase. I really liked Minecraft. It's just stupid for people to think he's the next Jesus, while he's a lot less than they think. A nice guy, yes, but not this huge visionary most of Minecraft's community talks about(see the official forums) Also, I started playing Minecraft after he stopped doing secret Friday updates.

I never complained about him never working, I complained about him creating five bugs whenever he added the simplest thing to Minecraft on an update and being horrible on priorities. Even on a vacation, I still do a bit of work to make sure my life won't collapse on top of my head and to keep a consistent progress.
Notch gave me minecraft for free once when I emailed him about not being able to afford it at the time. I wouldnt necessarily say hes greedy.
Did Valve ever make an update that turned Team Fortress a buggy pile of horseshit?
uhh, TF2 has had it's fair share of ridiculous bugs. :v:
uhh
Some may argue the updates made it a pile of horseshit, but they didn't have unnacceptable bugs like repeatedly pressing the ubercharge button while uber'd made invulnerability infinite, killing spies that already used the dead ringer wouldn't count as kills and translate into points or firing the rocket launcher while pressing the reload button would instantly reload it.
How about Engineers makings infinite buildables?
That's nothing compared to the bugs from Minecraft.
Notch may have his flaws but people complaining that like 2 vacations he's taken since Minecraft became successful are turds and as far as i can tell the people always bitching about Notch overshadow the people praising him as jesus by far these days. give it a damn rest.
If Activision wouldve bought Mojang, then minecraft would get such DLCs. EA hasn't been that DLC crazy tbh still if EA wouldve bought Minecraft then they wouldve probably made it so you can only play minecraft on origin.
You don't PLAY anything on Origin. Origin is a download manager, and has technically always existed. JESUS CHRISt
