They're right though, its not exactly an autopilot if it can't drive from one point to another without having the user do anything to the car.
This comment from Reddit sums it up pretty well:
Teslas 'autopilot" has - like the others to - a massiv issue with construction zones at the autobahn. It just dosn't recognizes the yellow stripes that mark the new way and trys to follow the old, whites. It also has issues with complex overlapings of lanes that sometimes can happen and then tends to go "straight" even if your real lane takes a slight curve. Next thing... the autopilot is to slow for the autobahn. If you drive over 160km+ on the left lane, its reacts way to late to cars that swap over the left for a quick pass in the middlelane. If it reacts, it reacts hard. I guess its about the range of the radar? Overall, I never use the 'autopilot' out of the above reasons. Just in low speed jams it is, like all the other assistants of similar properties, a nice thing. In all the other scenarios its sadly, a headache. So, it should be called what it is, like at the other manufacturers. An assistant - not more. But with that, you ain't getting the sweet viral PR in the internet.
Hitting the nail on the head, because Tesla uses glorified parking sensors instead of proper sensors for any direction other than straight forward
They should honestly ditch the auto pilot name. It gives people the impression they don't have to actually drive or actively pay attention
They should honestly ditch the auto pilot name. Planes can technically land themselves but the pilot still has to be paying attention in case it fucks up.
But that's how autopilot has always worked. Or just rename it "driving assist" so it's truthful and not confusing.

Put the blame on the drivers not the car.
