your comprehension level is outstanding

honestly i really hope you're feigning retardation.

i have no fuckin idea why max is a mod either
I'm starting to see a pattern here. [editline]10th May 2013[/editline]
because sexism isn't one sided?
It might as well be! [editline]10th May 2013[/editline]
if you're going to talk about "the gaming community" youll probably want to focus on something. children and teens have a much higher capacity to learn, and change, than someone over the age of, say, 30.
The demographic we're focusing on is "sexist assholes", not "only the people below 20 because the ones above 20 can't learn anything anymore so they're exempt whoops too bad".
instead of arguing with r/mensrights id really like to know if im going somewhere with this line of thought here about teaching gamer kids and changing the gaming community from its roots. [editline]10th May 2013[/editline]
The demographic we're focusing on is "sexist assholes", not "only the people below 20 because the ones above 20 can't learn anything anymore so they're exempt whoops too bad".
well no thats the demographic the "GTFO" series is focusing on, but that's not where i believe we SHOULD be focusing on. edit: "we" as a society, i mean [editline]10th May 2013[/editline] i mean, dont get me wrong, i think "GTFO" series is a step in the right direction to spreading the word, but the kids are the easiest to teach here and we need to lead them by example.
because sexism isn't one sided?
actually it basically is
Well, as I posted earlier: even in countries where equality is promoted (And for example, many female specific grants in Engineering) there is a quite striking polarization, and he referenced the one in Norway (nicknamed the Equality Paradox) as an example.
yes i can read but whats the relevance
I was trying to imply that there's no real "Certified feminist"
you came up with the words "certified feminist"; not me i just told you to read up on feminism because you sound completely ignorant of it
I already get quite a bit of exposure to the Feminist agenda when reading or in school.
that alone proves you dont know anything about feminism. feminism has no agenda. it's discourse, not a specific ideology. [editline]10th May 2013[/editline]
you reveal the fact that you're a girl online like having a girl name as your nickname and a fucking picture of yourself as your avatar, you're a fucking exhibitionist.
so fucking what
Those Xbox live messages they show could be easily avoided by not fucking saying and/or mentioning your gender anywhere. Nobody gives a shit what gender you are, and it's not necessary to be able to play the game or something. We're all gamers. You don't hear me go "Hey, I'm a guy gamer guys! Yes, that's right! I'm a guy, and I play videogames!" as soon as I join a server. I also don't mention it on profiles.
yes i can read but whats the relevance you came up with the words "certified feminist"; not me i just told you to read up on feminism because you sound completely ignorant of it that alone proves you dont know anything about feminism. feminism has no agenda. it's discourse, not a specific ideology.
The relevance is that I'm talking about women and men having different interests based on genetic hard-wiring (Which is evident in and outside the human species); and that the gender equality paradox (That even though Norway has perfectly equal laws regarding women (and as in that documentary: they are treated much the same, no masculine vs feminine) women and men polarize even more towards different fields of employment (Men go into Engineering and computers, women go into stuff that deals with people). If it's discourse and I'm in discussion right now (and am surrounded by it exponentially on places like Facepunch and Atheist conventions) then I can't be ignorant. But if I'm ignorant of it it must be an agenda, or a structured "agreement" on how things should be done (which is my point of there being an agenda, good or bad in anyone's eyes)
no-one cares about how it can be avoided thats not the point you can avoid anything by never playing games online. the point is its not supposed to happen so people are trying to stop it by any means they find appropriate. [editline]10th May 2013[/editline]
The relevance is that I'm talking about women and men having different interests based on genetic hard-wiring (Which is evident in and outside the human species); and that the gender equality paradox (That even though Norway has perfectly equal laws regarding women (and as in that documentary: they are treated much the same, no masculine vs feminine) women and men polarize even more towards different fields of employment (Men go into Engineering and computers, women go into stuff that deals with people).
still dont see the relevance about that when talking about women in gaming and how they are treated
But if I'm ignorant of it it must be an agenda, or a structured "agreement" on how things should be done
no such thing exists in feminism. feminism is about discourse between women. before feminism the idea that a woman can have independent thought was seen as laugh.
itt : wow women should just suck it up!!!!
you know what you reveal the fact that you're a girl online like having a girl name as your nickname and a fucking picture of yourself as your avatar, you're a fucking exhibitionist. seriously. think about it. how many guys have a picture of themselves as an avatar or an even really gender specific nickname? gaming is completely asexual until you bring that entire girl thing to the table.
But it's not. Ever noticed how almost always whenever anyone refers to anyone else on facepunch or a game or whatever the pronoun used is almost always 'him'? Gaming is male led and dominated, but in terms pf players has a fairly even gender split. Is this fair? No. And if someone made an FP profile with their real name and an avatar being a picture of themself and they were male most people wouldn't bat an eyelid beyond 'bit weird him not wanting anonymity on an internet forum' but if it was a female doing the exact ame thing I guarantee they would get more attention. Is this the fault of the woman? No, people try and pin innocuous things like this and the reaction to it as being 'attention whoring', but it's a result of their own immaturity and insecurities that there's this kind of reaction in the first place, which is why blaming the victim is so common. Attention whoring is not putting up the basic information about who you are on a public profile, or going on voice chat. That's not exhibitionism. Attention whoring, at least the most common rendition Ive seen on the internet, is posting pictures of yourself or revealing information about yourself, real or made up, in order to get comments about yourself. The girls on gaming sites etc that do that are a minority, as are the guys who do it. Mostly, they're here to talk about games or whatever.
people should always be genderless on the internet
tl;dr revealing basic personal information about yourself in gaming communities is not attention whoring, and by saying 'oh you brought it on yourself' when the community starts acting like retards you are being complicit in a case of plain bad attitude on the part of the community. you blame the victim because it's easier and doesn't pit you against a shitload of people, and it's easier to maintain the status quo than to stand up for a minority [editline]10th May 2013[/editline]
people should always be genderless on the internet
I think that's an indictment of what judgemental shits people can be on the internet; while anonymity is normalizing and liberating if you choose to reveal something about yourself that isn't morally or ethically wrong (admittedly those are relative) then you should expect not to be judged on it by people who only feel free to judge because of the impersonal nature of the internet. [editline]10th May 2013[/editline]
Those Xbox live messages they show could be easily avoided by not fucking saying and/or mentioning your gender anywhere. People who are sexist and immature in games are either children or same sexist and immature douches you often see at clubs. There really isn't anything you can do against these people.

[editline]10th May 2013[/editline] leaving the status quo alone is enforcing it btw, that's why you don't have to be a retarded twelve year old to act like one
spot the difference
Obvious-lyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy it was the inclusion of the mirror that caused the backlash because that is a stupid way to take a shot. :downs:
spot the difference
I heard that some of the only places in the world that are free from this kind of bullshit are lesbian dating websites. I would love to see a world so devoid of assholery if I could
spot the difference
why does reddit attract these kind of people? I'd love to see an article written on why, would be pretty fucking interesting
why does reddit attract these kind of people? I'd love to see an article written on why, would be pretty fucking interesting
Because it's a public forum that blatantly rewards sensationalist and offensive posting which is then defended by it's admins as "free speech". Basically imagine if FP organized posts so ones with more agrees/zings were higher than those with less and the mods didn't do shit.
It's not like it's exclusive to reddit though, every time a girl posts something that reveals she's a girl (intentionally or not) someone will go and brand them an "attention whore". It happens here too.
Gaming forums just seem to have a lot of immature angry, frustrated bitter white males on them, guess you just hear a LOT about it because reddit is so fucking huge [editline]12th May 2013[/editline]
It's not like it's exclusive to reddit though, every time a girl posts something that reveals she's a girl (intentionally or not) someone will go and brand them an "attention whore". "HEY, GUYS, I'M A GIRL AND PEOPLE ARE SENDING ME PRIVATE MESSAGES, I'M A GIIIIRL "
