He should really try and focus on a single game for more than a couple months. I'm not sure if he's expecting everything he makes to be an overnight sensation like Minecraft then gets frustrated when it doesn't, but he needs to learn that not everything he touches turns to gold.
I think the reason why he has so many projects is because he seems extremely eager to start working on his ideas but doesn't stay committed to them after he gets bored. While that's very common among both amateur and professional game developers, It's extremely unprofessional to advertise a game and then quit halfway through development simply because you don't feel like working on it anymore, which is why most games aren't announced until they're in a somewhat presentable state. Fortunately Notch has people he can hand his projects over to when he gets bored, But he can only do that so many times.
Dumb name and dumb idea.
I'll save comments about any sort of monthly fee until there's some solid gameplay and reviews out there but the concept is intriguing. I'm really interested to see how this turns out.
Same here, I'd have to see some screenshots and more stuff than just cool ideas.
People whine about Notch so often.
it would be cool if the fat piece of shit notch actually made a game worthwhile minecraft sucks the people defend it as a side effect of buyers remorse you cant do shit half of the cool things are unprogrammed this POS dev. makes indie games worse than they are already.

I really like the idea of this. The monthly fee thing sucks, but if it's a lot of fun, I'd be willing to pay. We'll just need to see how it all pans out before immediately judging.
im AM STILL so anGRY about Minecraft so goddamn mad
I just wish notch would finish minecraft properly first, it has soooo much more potential for features. :(
Man I wish people would atleast give it a chance first. It's so sad to see what could be a good game, then everyone goes it's Notch: stupid name, stupid game. I would bet 20$ that if this was by any other indie developer. People would think it was a pretty neat idea.
All space games will now be called clones, THANKS NOTCH
It's always nice walking into a Mojang thread. They could come up with a miracle in data form and you'd still whine about Notch.
I feel like this game is only going to suck because there's going to be that ONE asshole that makes a virus that's unstoppable and fucks everyone over.
Well it is a "simulated CPU", so im sure someone will program an antivirus for it.
Every time someone mentions a virus in computer games I think of that WoW virus that was supposed to affect only players fighting a certain boss and it was transmittable to nearby players, someone managed to teleport out of the boss fight and spread it around the whole world :v: It killed everyone infected after x time, even NPCs.
Only low level players actually. Everyone above a certain level out healed it passively.
I just wish notch would finish minecraft properly first, it has soooo much more potential for features. :(
Notch isnt working on minecraft
Monthly fee and it's made in Java? Yeah, I'll keep waiting for someone else to make this mythical game.
FUck off notch /nerdrage
I've noticed that the people that bitch about the people who dislike Notch almost always have no idea why people are upset in the first place.
tthey is mad because blockgame in which you build stuff with blocks doesnt conform to everyones own ultra-specific vision and because the development cycles are (exactly what you'd expect in being) longer than development cycles for major studios with teams of people numbering in the dozens goddamn that fucker notch, why hasn't he created a mercurial omnigame that contains this exact set of fetures ive desired for the game since day one? i'm an ideas guy and im entitled to have m y opinion heard [editline]5th April 2012[/editline] The reason everyone is so mad at notch is because they're all nerds who wanted Minecraft to conform to the exact, specific vision that they (the player) created in their little heads when they first played Minecraft Alpha; and when that didn't happen and Notch and Jeb proved to be real human beings who had their own ideas about where the game should go everyone got indignant because they felt entitled to the control over the direction in which the game was developed. When a develop-and-then-release game like Assassins Creed 3 or Borderland 2 includes features that players don't like the players chalk that up to a poor design decision and still critically evaluate the game as a whole but when a publicly supported beta develops into a full game everyone gets pissed whenever the developer has their own ideas like adding an ending or alchemy instead of listening to your totally awesome ideas about a new block that does a specific thing that only you care about and that apparently makes Notch a fucker. [editline]5th April 2012[/editline] be bigger, more entitled nerds, jesus christ
why is this named after an error you get about corrupt system files
Pretty sure the name means Zero times ten to the speed of light
Actually looks promising
Lets hope this gets somewhere. I'm not sure if I'd pay monthly for it, but that's what the singleplayer is for.
why is this named after an error you get about corrupt system files
goes with the hard sci fi. Gabe Newel said about philip k Dick is that he prefered sci fi where the great machines are failing, in the game errors caused this mess and the universe is ment to be broke.
With the universe we know winding down and preparing to die, you'll get to roam around, mining, trading, and looting, getting into space battles, and landing "seamlessly" on planets.
Sounds to me he is doing what he did with minecraft. Say a bunch of things that sound cool but have no idea if he can/is willing to implement the things he said would be in there. [editline]5th April 2012[/editline]
entitled
This word needs to stop. Its just a insult used towards someone who isn't content with something.
Posting your game idea is sort of a bad idea when you barely know what you're going to do with it.
This word needs to stop. Its just a insult used towards someone who isn't content with something.
anyone who isn't content with minecraft is completely free to stop playing it. the people who are pissed off because the game didn't meet whatever arbitrarily specific standard that they (the player, not the developer) made for game the game are doing so because they feel entitled to have a say in how the game was made. [editline]5th April 2012[/editline] like no one is as pissed off at really unambiguously terrible recent games like syndicate or homefront as everyone's gotten about minecraft because i think a lot of people are under the illusion that the fact that they bought minecraft for 10 dollars back when it was still in early beta meant that they somehow got to have a say in how the game was developed after that which is obviously not true and probably was never even implied
anyone who isn't content with minecraft is completely free to stop playing it. the people who are pissed off because the game didn't meet whatever arbitrarily specific standard that they (the player, not the developer) made for game the game are doing so because they feel entitled to have a say in how the game was made.
Simply not playing it doesn't change the fact that they paid for it. I could see if the game was free then sure but the fact that they paid for notch to do something and then he didn't do it kind of gives them the right to be angry. Besides what ever happened to the customer is always right. If you buy something you have the fight to complain if you felt like you didn't get your moneys worth.
Simply not playing it doesn't change the fact that they paid for it. If people don't like how the game ended up then they can sure well criticize the product as it exists, but they shouldn't act like mojang royally screwed them over somehow.
this sounds like it could be great. I'll wait until the thing's finished before passing judgement
he didn't do what? didn't make the game? because it did get made. it passed 1.0; new features were added. afaik that's all that was promised.
But that isn't all that was promised. He promised many things that he didn't put into the game and many people bought it thinking those things would be in it. Also calling a game finished doesn't make it finished.
