Valve: 'common sense' to allow Black Mesa and fan remakes

Black Mesa's music designer is a genius.
Oh you'd be surprised at how many other publishers disregard that piece of common sense, Chet.
Valve are really masters at PR. Not bagging them at all, but it's interesting to watch... They say barely anything during BM:S' development (basically a good thing because they didn't shut anything down), but just as soon as it's been released and proven popular they get ol' Chet out to make a nice statement about how Valve loves its fans and supports remakes / mods etc. They're really quite clever with their timing and statements, it's impressive actually.
They didn't make Chet say that, someone asked him.

The devlopment took 7 years, do you expect them to make a press statement every year saying "Good job guys, wow it's looking great, keep up the good work"? No, that'd be redundant. It's like BM:S winning MOTY on ModdB multiple times despite it not being released until 2012. The fact that they're acknowledging that it's a well made mod now that (at least a part of) the mod has FINALLY been released is a nice gesture, but it doesn't need the constant praise that you say it needed.
Also Valve has mentioned BM before, mentioning their 2008 trailer when it came out, congratulating them when they won Most Anticipated Mod on MODDB.

People have made fan mods that extend the story.
I don't see why you're all getting angry and voting me boxes, I was just commenting on how good Valve is with their PR. They couldn't have known Black Mesa would take nearly 8 years to complete, so it isn't actually unreasonable to think they might have said something each year anyway in support or anticipation. But they didn't and they very cleverly make some comments post-release that support the work and really promote themselves as being very supportive (not that they ever weren't).
It's not criticism, it's just observation.

!?

well not exactly, none of them are out yet, theres a few in the works though.
Valve seriously should just fucking hire the people who made Black Mesa and finish it.
Or they should just reward them each like $100,000
I feel like I may get dumb reading some of these posts.

Eli still alive due to Xen Relay's.
