This game is pretty crap. It's too full of itself and trying too hard to be "High Art" when it's just an insult to indie devs who put effort into their games being artistic and fun to play. And I'm sorry weren't all PCs only good for making spreadsheets?
FEZ might as well be a spreadsheet with how boring it is
No, it doesn't, that whole part of the game is like maybe 30% of the game, the real value and the real reason why it's been getting so much praise from various places is the huge, hidden, overarching, almost ARG-style puzzle that you might not even find if you just play the game and that's something that hasn't really been done in much games before.
Avatar related, since hearing the Fez discussions on the Giant Bomb podcast about the ARG-style puzzles is what made me want to try it myself. And I don't believe that making dickish comments on Twitter is justification for pirating his game.
Why isn't anyone mentioning that fez supports only 720p, 1080p and 1440p resolutions? Other resolutions are letterboxed or pillarboxed or even both. Also the performance is bad for some people, because it only uses one core and barely uses GPU.
We should have boycotted harder.
puzzles that are just QR codes ~never been done before~
QR codes are quite literally the most retarded thing any dev could do to their game, regardless of how good the game is.
Apparently one annoying problem the PC port has is terrible, giant letterboxing on widescreen monitors. Can anyone confirm that?
No, there's much, much more to that. The QR codes is just a part of that.
Can you actually elaborate on that?
The reason why it didn't have to be greenlit is because it already has a publisher.
Didn't he say in Indie Game: The Movie that if Fez didn't do good he would kill himself? I guess he really lucked out!
This is a game where being called pretentious works. It tries so fucking hard to be some deep and complex game with cryptic shit but its just retarded and is really just some bad platforming thats easy as fuck and has a meme in it.
I have literally no way to read QR codes...
Can you actually elaborate on that?
There's a whole code system for button combinations hidden throughout the game, there's a hidden numbering system hidden around, a hidden alphabet, all used in a lot of parts of the game in such a way that it would all just seem like random background stuff at first sight.
pretty sure i heard somewhere you dont have to go through greenlight as an indie developer if you won IGF, or was a finalist or something like that (probably finalist though)

The reason why it didn't have to be greenlit is because it already has a publisher.
No, seriously. People keep fucking this up. You are not required to use Greenlight. No one is required to use Greenlight ever. It is the choice of the developer to go with Greenlight or not. They can always use the standard application process that was used before to have the game added directly to the catalog, or they can choose to put the game up on Greenlight for vote by the community and then have the game added that way. He wouldn't put it on Greenlight because he knows he can get accepted the normal way easily and because he knows that he would get rejected hard if the community were to have any say.
I think people are totally ridiculous in the way they're approaching Phil Fish. He's one guy. People have been nagging for 6 years, and slating him for not releasing a game on time, and when he finally releases it on PC it's fucking brilliant and the port is good too! I've played it and have actually done videos on it already, it's a great game and a great port.
