• Diablo III: No Mods, Online-Only, Cash Trades

Hmmm, the whole have-to-be-online thing is kind of an inconvenience, as is the lack of moddability (I don't think that's even a word but i'll use it anyway), but I couldn't give a damn about the Auction House's pay-real-dosh option, in fact I ain't interested in the Auction House at all unless I actually NEED to use it for an item that I can't get anywhere else. So long as the gameplay is great and good and has that Diablo feel, all that other stuff's just a bit of silly precaution, though it is still a stupid thing that mods are unavailable, when if you look at Killing Floor there's a Whitelist system that allows the usage of mods, with gameplay significant game-changer mods not affecting your experience, a bit like a gaiden experience to vanilla. How hard is it to do a whitelist system anyway?
that's the issue
Don't get me wrong, I'll probably buy it, Diablo 2 was great. But it's still a turn-off.
I actually sort of like the idea, but I still think it's dumb description. There were already a lot of people on the fence, and with many major RPGs and competing ARPGS on the horizon, they really can't afford this sort of controversy. Hopefully they can salvage this with some sort of Coke Classic type maneuver and scrap it. The show of willingness to change might make the game more successful than if they had never bothered to do it in the first place.
Stupid decisions, really. I mean, I was never a fan of Diablo or anything, but I enjoyed "Diablo-Clones", so I was going to buy this, but man, fuck Blizzard, I'm going for Torchlight 2.
The game's region locked too, and there's no cross-region play :v: Fuck off Blizzard
The rune system alone is still enough for me to want this game.
One less game that I wanted to pre-order. Oh well
This sounds like a Disaster waiting to happen. I can see that and i havent even touched a Diablo game.
Well, Blizzard you screwed up again. TB has mentioned many times before in his Mailbox videos how modding increases the shelf life of a game and I'm sure Blizzard knows that better then anyone else. I'm not even seeing the rationale behind this act. The other ones don't bother me as much.
Diablo III: No Mods, Online-Only, Cash Trades
Final destination
Is this going to be one of those games where the only way to easily play it is to pirate it? I have a pretty decent internet connection, but I'd rather play games like diablo and torchlight on a laptop. And internet connection outside of the house is either too expensive or non-existant. If pirates make a single player version I'll just get that instead. I'll buy it to stay legal, but play the pirated version.
Well no wonder. Blizzard has been going to shit for a few years now. Old Blizzard and Blizzard North were the shit, now they are starting to lose touch. They still can put out very polished games, but just look at Starcraft 2's story, the low-res scanlined talking heads in SC1 conveyed a story ten times better than the superhigh quality cutscenes in SC2. Probably all due to WoW, that is where all the cartoonyness started, that's were they got the idea to start charging for everything they can (Starcraft 2 map marketplace, this, and it'll get worse), and even if they obviously won't admit it, Activision has a big influence on this.
I couldn't care less about mods or that it's online only it's the cash trades that has me interested. I mean come on, if they're letting you sell shit for real money they're obviously not going to let you use a mod to clone said item a million times.
I don't really give a shit about selling items, and who plays mods to copy items anyway? You use hero editor for that. The huge content mods for D2 were what kept me playing, vanilla was terribly boring.
If only they'd released this information 122 days ago
So many companies are dropping mod support or making it very hard to mod. When will they realize no one plays the game 2 months after release because they beat the storyline and now they can't modify it and have more fun. Almost every new game suffers from no mod support.
I never cared for Activsion games anyways.

We wouldn't want mods, otherwise why buy the DLC when you can have probably more for free?
Can only be played online? Fuck that. I liked single player. A LOT.
And when they wonder why Diablo III didn't sell well, they'll blame it on pirates and a lack of interest in the genre.
Can only be played online? Fuck that. I liked single player. A LOT.
There is singleplayer. You just have to be logged in and on the internet to play it. I'm not sure why everyone's freaking out about this. We have hardly any details. I'm okay with the auction house and I never really played a Diablo game for the mods. As for the DRM, I'm not happy about it and my internet likes to go off at inopportune times, but I'm hoping it's going to be like SC2 where you can continue playing and you just get disconnected to Battle.net. No one knows anything about the actual game. The gameplay is what matters, and people are shitting themselves over something pretty simple. It could be another great Diablo game and you guys could be missing out.

Almost every new game suffers from no mod support.
It's almost as if people do stuff just because they get paid... And that's sad. But hey, let's just hope that this isn't just a big ol' ploy to grab a quick buck for a shitload of fuck. After all, we've all seen the gameplay videos and all that fast-paced action, so that's gotta mean something, right? Also, your words are so so true Dark Link, I sure hope that connection dropouts only disconnect you from Battle.net, 'cause NOTHING is more frustrating than playing a singleplayer game, just about to defeat the Act boss, and BAM!, stuff freezes and it boots you out to the main menu. Now THAT would be a sanity-shattering nightmarish crime of video-game development. It'd be way better if an icon popped up in the corner that says Connection Error: Gaming progress might not be saved/Progress saving will resume upon reconnection, or something like that.
no one really knows how the game will play off yet so if the game fucks you over when you lose your internet connection you'll have the right to complain
I like how you always type in undercases because you somehow think it gets your point across better.
I randomly lose my internet connection. It could be every few minutes, hours, or if I'm really, really lucky, it could not go out for a day. Looks like I won't be buying this
ok i honestly dont give a crap if it's online only, that wont trouble me, as for cash trades, it's not "buy to win", since everyone can get the same gear without even spending money, and you can even make some money for yourself so stop sperging around guys, there is shitloads of complaints here - but maybe it's those with a literal phobia of cash in games and those who have a spaz attack and DC themselves from the internet when they play games that are shouting out in this thread.
Blah, blizzard is just getting worse and worse. I was more excited for Torchlight 2 anyway :)
Wtf is wrong with people. Diablo 2 already had the pay for items with real money black market. It's just brilliant that it's gonna get officially supported. Anybody who has played sc2 knows that it has pretty strict DRM and nobody gives a shit because blizzard is amazing and will do DRM well. They haven't been developing this game for 10 years for nothing. It's gonna be amazing. [editline]1st August 2011[/editline] RPS did a terrible job. Too. People should read this instead: http://diablo.incgamers.com/ [editline]1st August 2011[/editline] It was pretty damn obvious blizzard was going to implement online only. We don't want diablo 2's cheating again now do we.
Lol everyone went apeshit when it came to hearing about Singleplayer :v:
the only bad thing that blizzard is doing here is the mod support. Auction house is brilliant and will keep the diablo 3 economy thriving and gold will actually be worth something. Only 2% or so of the items on the AH will be sold for real money when you think about it. You have a Crude Shortsword. What are you actually going to try and sell it for 5bucks ? Thats just fucking stupid. You're gonna sell it for 50gold because nobody will buy shit items for money. And like I said. It was really obvious that DRM was going to be implemented into diablo 3. Or else cheating would be really easy. Like it was in diablo 2.
Torchlight's devs just opened a bottle of champagne.
Blizzard, what the fuck are you doing?
Not supporting mods is one of the worst things a developer can do I wouldn't have replayed Diablo 2 several times if not for the mods.
