I saw Diablo 3 and jizzed. I saw no mods, online only and shamefully cleaned myself.
No, it's not an MMO.
Are you sure?
I don't remember Diablo II having very many worthwhile mods... there was like maphack and that one big one.
Diablo 3 looks like horseshit anyway. As a former Diablo 2 developer said, it's the Warcraft team's take on Diablo, and it has the style of Warcraft as a result. Grimdark or nothing, I say
The game's region locked too, and there's no cross-region play :v: Fuck off Blizzard
Oh, for fucks sake! You know what? Fuck it. I was willing to forgive the shitty "always-online" DRM bullshit they have introduced and the ban on mods, because I fucking love Diablo. But restricting regions? No. Just no. Why would that be the last straw, you might ask yourself? Because im going to the US for a year later this month and will only be able to keep contact with my freinds through the internet. If I can't fucking play Diablo 3 together with them, in case the game is released in that timeframe, I will simply not give a fuck. I mean, what's the fucking excuse to do that shit? Diablo is known for it's coop. I'm sure some old Diablo players from around the world would want to get together again. And if it's server based anyway, then why bother? Just let people chose a realm like they do in WoW. Is it simply to annoy the fuck out of people who have freinds around the world? No. Fuck you Blizzard. You may not want to admit it, but you have let Activision get to much control over you. Way to fucking ruin the game I have been eargerly anticipating for seven fucking years. The internet was meant to break barriers, not create them as someone with a fucking brain said. Edit: Torchligt 2 sounds fucking amazing right about now.
I don't remember Diablo II having very many worthwhile mods... there was like maphack and that one big one.
Zy-El, Median XL, Nezeramontias and Eastern Sun were all great mods.
Yeah Median XL was the one I never even heard of the other three.
The more I read this thread the more I lose hope in humanity. Torchlight ? seriously ? one of their biggest features are "WE ACTUALLY HAVE MULTIPLAYER THIS TIME AROUND" Diablo 3 will be the best game ever made. [editline]1st August 2011[/editline] I could start writing about how horribly wrong 90% of the people in this thread are. But that would take up time that I could be spending reading about the new information for diablo 3. You wouldn't know of this new information because all facepunch knows is what some ignorant view whoring press website told them. And not what blizzard said in the press release.
Still can't wait to play it.
Diablo 3 will be the best game ever made.
Best game ever made will be Deus Ex: Human Revolution, when it comes out.
Wait, shit, what if the region thingy is like in Diablo 2? Then I will have raged for nothing!

I might still buy Diablo III, but I'm definitely looking forward to Torchlight 2 much more atm.
Also if you're concerned about single player it was just redundant because all you have to do is make a private server, I get that it's offline but I bet it's going to be more like Starcraft II where you just need internet to activate it or whatever.
Can only be played online? Fuck that. I liked single player. A LOT.
Didn't you read the op? single player / online play is the same as it was in D2
And when they wonder why Diablo III didn't sell well, they'll blame it on pirates and a lack of interest in the genre.
It will sell as I bet the majority of people buying will have no idea it will be well marketed and the Diablo name is pretty big. I wasn't sure if I was going to get this ever anyway but now its an almost certain no, hello Torchlight 2
Even if I was never considering touching Diablo 3, I wouldn't be buying Torchlight 2.
I like how you always type in undercases because you somehow think it gets your point across better.
uh the reason i write in undercases is because there's no point to wasting time using a shift button that was a really random assumption to make btw
uh the reason i write in undercases is because there's no point to wasting time using a shift button that was a really random assumption to make btw
Bullshit. We know your use of undercase letters is some kind of psychological attack.
Bullshit. We know your use of undercase letters is some kind of psychological attack.
come on reallY now it's nOt some kind of attack, Under all the things that i'd do, something Like that is kinda weird. there's noOne singular reason. it's a Very vEry odd assuMption to makE
blizzard what the fuck are you doing
I'm gonna quit my part time job and make looad o' money by selling loot.
You guys are overreacting. I'm guessing you all run on dial-up so that's why you are complaining about online only. Either get a better connection, or don't play games online; simple as that. In the future I guarantee EVERY new release will online-only, so you better get used to it.
Online DRM? No thanks, Ill pass... Looked forward to this since Diablo 2. A sad day...
Typical RPS posting shit without knowing what the fuck they're talking about, causing a shit storm with people who also have no idea what the fuck they're talking about because RPS never tells the full story...
There will also be offline single player in Diablo III, but those characters will be unable to play over Battle.net, and since there is no LAN support for Diablo III, they'll never be able to play in a multiplayer game. They will also be unable to access numerous Battle.net-only game features, including trading, the Arena, the shared stash, and more. The planned level of non-support for single player in Diablo III is a very controversial issue and one that many fans have spoken out against.
Back in October of 2010 Bashiok, a Blizzard employee made a post addressing some peoples concern for offline single player(Before the online only was announced)
Bashiok: There is offline single player, but it’s something we’re going to attempt to discourage as best as possible. A lot of us, myself included, and probably a lot of you and your friends had the exact same Diablo II experience. You get the game, start playing, your friend says let’s try co-op, and when you log in your characters aren’t there. After a slight freakout moment and potentially some use of Webcrawler to search the World Wide Web with Netscape 6, you realized or figured out that you had to start over. That’s actually an experience that can cause someone to stop playing the game. Maybe you or I let out a huge sigh, and maybe a brief mourning period after realizing the last 60 hours were completely wasted, but we pressed on. That’s not the case for everyone. Maybe most people. I actually refused to start over for a while and continued on in single-player before finally jumping on Battle.net. Who knows what a lesser man would have done… So, if we can get people online and creating character on Battle.net from the get-go, there’s less chance of that catastrophe. But there’s still a play offline option, if you should need it.
Most of you will no doubt complain that his reasoning is stupid, but either way there will be offline single player. No LAN, just offline SINGLE player. RPS did this shit with the Starcraft 2 cheating thing, posting about Blizzard banning people for cheating but never giving the full story.
That was last year. They scrapped those plans.
No they didn't. [editline]1st August 2011[/editline] what i meant to say was wtf blizz stupid activision money hungry douche bags omg [editline]1st August 2011[/editline] prolly gonna be $50 dollar ponys in diablo 3 fucking activision
It's year-old information that directly contradicts newer info.
"But there’s still a play offline option, if you should need it."

“There’s no offline play, you have to be connected to the internet.”
I think it's safe to say they changed their plans.
Hopefully it'll work like in SC2, you only need to be online in SP for the achievements and nothing else. There's really nothing to freak out over, except the "DURR HURR CROSS REGION" which is just stupid.
-permanent internet connection: can be cracked and bypassed easily going by Assassins Creed II and all other games that have used it -no mods: When there is a will there is a way and there will be mods -real money for items in the in-game shop: that's fucking retarded
-real money for items in the in-game shop: that's fucking retarded
How? I could see huge profits coming from this And there's still the option for buying with 'gold' instead
