Star Wars: Battlefront is 'DICE's interpretation of what Battlefront should be'

Space battles still please
They already said its not going to be battlefield, and even if it was, why not step back and realize battlefront is literally just a star wars skinned battlefield in third person.

Whats wrong with weapon attachments? On an objective level, what is wrong with them?
Because it will just be unimaginative grenade launchers and scopes and will help make it "battlefield with starwars stuff in it".
If they make interesting attachments that pertain to Starwars, sure, lets have them. But I doubt they can.

Whats wrong with scopes and grenade launchers? Those are basic ideas not unique nor special and pretaining to anything. Star wars already has lots of "normal" or "unimaginative" stuff in it including literal grenade launchers or analogues to real weaponry. You're seriously complaining that the game could have a bonus feature to personalize my weapon more?
The weapons in star wars are literally real guns mangled up that shoot pew pew laser beams and have scopes attached to rails. I mean hell, Lucas-Art's Republic Commando had attachments.
the thing is, even if its average it will still sell a bunch

Personalize your weapon? You mean create the best possible weapon-attachment combo like everyone else has, akin to BF3 and COD? (there is a reason why only about 20% of the whole balance spectrum is used in these games - its because people quickly learn what is the best and use them only). Why not add Commando Pro and Ninja Pro?
The problem with attachments in games is that it is usually tied to getting kills with that weapon, and the attachments are 70% of the time straight upgrades. You start out with no attachments and then after 500 kills of not having a good gun you have the best attachment combo, and now have a good gun.

That's honestly really crazy to say, there is a reason why COD and BF have so many attachments and that is because its a mix of play style and preference. Even than, what do you think an attachment is supposed to do? They help soldiers to a better job, that's the whole point.
Even if we did your idea of imaginative attachments, guess what? It would still have the entire problem you described about being a pure upgrade. But no, I can't really say that it makes bad guns into good guns and I can't really say I feel unequal versus people with attachments in those games, and even than in the end who said the attachment system has to be like those games? It could be as simple as Rifle Ironsights, Rifle Scope and Rifle Aim-Dot, each other their own quirks and disadvantages.

Mix of playstyles? So THAT is why every recon in BF3 has the M98B w/ straight pull bolt and 4x/12x scope, right?
All in all attachments are one of the many things that makes modern military shooters really dull to play.

Well that's their choice, I use loads of different attachments especially with different maps. They all have their own advantage or disadvantage.
How? If it just upgrades the gun, than it sounds like what a normal arcadey game has. They don't really do anything bad.
if attachments are done well theyre pretty good. they should have advantages and disadvantages.

But you =/= the general masses.
The M98B is used because it has the highest damage out of all the sniper rifles. Straight pull bolt makes rechambering faster and means you dont have to unscope. Scope choice is based upon map size.
Objectively it is the best sniper rifle in the game. People want the best so they use the best.
And straight upgrades are a really bad design choice in multiplayer, arcadey or otherwise... Because after 2 months everyone has the best gear, except the newbies who have the worst, and thus cant play at all and usually dont hang around long.
Even than how is Battlefront really unique? Please, compare it to Battlefield and you'll realize its sort of the same thing. What made it so iconic and so amazing was that it captured the feeling and atmosphere of Star Wars and had lots of great licensed art and sounds and music.
It's gameplay was good, sure, but think about it objectively, you had basically the same classes and the same functions with the same roles.
Engineers who can repair vehicles and other vehicle related activities
Soldiers who have a bread/butter set of firepower and good at infantry
Medics who heal and focused on support
Support gunners who bring fire power and supplies
Snipers who literally just snipe
Sure, it spiced it up with star wars aspects, but when you think about it, Battlefield and Battlefront are literally the same, their core mode is even the same, Conquest. A back and forth of capturing points across a level which spread into a dynamic battlefield.

I doubt its objectively the best and that's my point. If it completely trumped everything else 100%, DICE would have never added it or added other snipers. They're developers with 10 (15+?) years of experience and 8+ games on their belts, I would think they know what they're doing.
I've done great in BF3 with all of the guns I've used, I can't say any of them were any better than the others.
As for straight upgrades, eh. I'm not a big fan of it either, but that's another debate for another time.
if attachments are done well theyre pretty good. they should have advantages and disadvantages.
This completely. I thought that Brink had a good set up where you could put almost as many attachments as you wanted, but the gun took much longer to aim as a result. A lot of the attachments did have additional negatives too.

I play Recon with a P90... Shit, I guess I've been playing wrong this whole time.
I don't like the sound of that.
What battlefront should be is like battlefront 2 with improved mechanics, updated graphics, and seamless space to ground fighting, it should NOT be battlefield 3 with a star wars skin.
I don't want to judge too much on something before they even show us any game play, but if i'm harsh it's only because i care about battlefront.
DICE said they didn't want it to be battlefield 3: star wars, and battlefront was always battlefield: star wars anyhow, just with third person

I normally roll the Spas with my recon yo
I really hope this turns out well.
It better have XL
I really think, if they're using the frostbite engine, it'll be fucking awesome. Visually anyway, that's what most Star Wars games I've played lack.
i want the pump-action ACP Array Gun as an unlockable for most classes
no wait they'll probably just make Preorder Bonus: TRANDOSHAN WEAPONRY PACK
Using the frostbite engine would be great for the Hoth maps, and I'm not just saying that because of the name.
BC2/BF3 frozen maps look stunning
As long as we get Jedi/Sith/Hero/Villain characters I'm happy.
Cutting down fodder as Darth Vader on frostbite engine, oh god

So what your saying is you would rather every one play with iron sights and just a plain gun then have attachments.
