Lol are you fucking serious?

Creating a hugbox has never helped anybody change for the better.
Fat acceptance is a horrible mindset and I'm all for shitting on people who perpetuate it. Only a small minority actually have genetic disorders that keep them fat, most of it is just dumb excuses because people are too fucking lazy to keep in shape.
Why the hell would you feel the need to take out your aggression on a fat person? I don't condone fat people. I literally will not date a person who is obese. It does not appeal to me. That being said, I don't hate the buggers. I used to be one. As best I can say, it's a nasty coping mechanism to usually more severe underlying issues.
Acceptance and pride is retarded, but so is the hate. Just accept it as a part of life.
maybe more people will want to lose weight if they aren't harassed by people who think the way you do every time they go outside
If they don't want to lose weight at that point then they probably never wanted to do so in any situation. Or do you really think that patting obese people on their backs telling them "You look great just the way you are" is going to give them more of an incentive to lose weight? Because, that's what the fat acceptance thing has been about on the net mostly.

I kinda agree with you there. TBH, people rarely lose weight when they say they will and even moreso seldom from the internet, coaching, workout/diet stuff.
My weight loss, and the most common I've seen done proper and last, is that stuff you really had no idea was underway because the person just gradually cut back on their eating or made it healthier. Strict "lose weight" diets and workout stuff is always slow and fails.

actually a lot of people didn't give a shit until they started shoving fat acceptance down our throats
ironically "fat acceptance" is what's spurred me into losing weight
"It's the internet, what do you expect" is such a stupid "argument". Just because things suck current doesn't mean you should stop trying to improve and make a change and give over power to trolls and assholes. That's such a cowardly, defeatist attitude.
It's more the case of people treating this kind of stuff as a localized problem in their community rather than something that's all over the internet, as if cracking down on it on one site is actually achieving anything more than making it move somewhere else
I could also argue that reddit being a service provider should leave moderation to board administrators (with the exception of illegal content obviously) but hey, their site, their rules.
There are ways to curb the obesity epidemic, but I don't think snapping pictures of strangers and posting it to the internet with the title "Look at this disgusting hambeast bitch." is really the healthy way to go about it.
I bet they don't even care about real bullying, they just want an excuse to ban anyone criticizing their friends. Fine censorship

I really don't understand the people in this subreddit. Like most of them really go out of their way to hate/bully fat people, it's kind of not okay to take photos of random overweight men (but it's mostly women), they get so mad and weird its unreal.
It's weird how subreddits like r/creepshots get shut down whilst subreddits like fatpeoplehate get to stay up because lolfatpeople

Ok, you want everybody to be fit. Tell me though, what's more likely to happen when you begin shaming everyone who is obese? That they somehow "see the light" and change their lives for the better? Or perhaps what little self esteem they had just evaporates, then where's the motivation to become fit? You effectively just killed any drive they could have had to become fit. Hell, they'll likely respond by binge eating which only makes the problem worse.
Fat acceptance isn't a healthy attitude to have, that I agree with. But being an intolerant asshole who wages war on anybody who doesn't conform isn't a healthy mindset either. Most people will begin to ignore you once they decide you hate them.
That and there's a third set of people, like myself. I see shit like this, and it only makes me want to stay the way I am. Just because I know it pisses assholes off. You want me to become fit? Try being helpful instead of a negative asshole.
Just to reiterate, I'm not saying fat acceptance is a good thing. But being a straight fucking dickwad to obese people is NOT going to help them change their ways. If anything, they'll stay the course or things will get worse. You want to know how you change people for the better? You help them change. You might even make a friend or two in the process.
TLDR: Blind open hate will not change anything for the better. If anything, it will usually make shit worse. You want people to change? Well help those people change.

You think you being fat pisses someone off? It's ironic since by being unfit the only one you're doing harm to is yourself. No one gets pissed about it really.
Also, people who make fun of fat people generally do not care if they get fit or go binge eating. They don't lose in either situation.
I don't want to turn this into a gamergate thread when it's already derailed into debating the ethics of fat-shaming, but here's the list of /r/GamerGhazi users we can expect this to apply to:

Its a point I'm trying to make. Hate will not inspire anyone to change. It only inspires you to ignore the people who hate you. You want to inspire change? You help people. I'd be willing to put money on being helpful actually resulting in changes.
Of course these days "hate" appears to be a very loose term.

Wouldn't getting fit spite them more actually? If you have the willpower to get fit despite all the hate, that's admirable as fuck.
Anyone else think Reddit is slowly going to end up like Digg?
Holy shit are you serious right now.
Go back to your hugbox, Max.
Anyone else think Reddit is slowly going to end up like Digg?
What happened to Digg? It was huge but then it kinda died all of a sudden.
Go back to your hugbox, Max.
what
just because I don't need every thread to circlejerk about Gamergate means something?
not to mention to the obscene amounts of censorship and hugboxing that goes on on that site
facepunchers must feel pretty at home

Now it's an actually pretty good news aggregation site.

Guess they learned from their own lesson then.
But they'll never get a spot in the limelight again.
In many cases, being overweight is a mental health issue. I'm not dismissing it, but rather saying that the problem needs to be addressed elsewhere.
On the other end of the spectrum, genetic code can make it more difficult to control weight even with the best effort.
Everything else is an issue of insensitivity.
whats wrong with that?
Lots of the posts are like this or this or this
Just taking pictures of random people (mostly women) and making fun of them to the point of referring to fat people as "it", or social media posts of people being an absolute tosser to a fat woman who asks them out or something.
You'd have to be a real fucking cunt to actually take a picture of a fat person who walks into a coffee store you're in and then humiliate them over the internet, just because they're fat.
Also i'm pretty sure numerous studies have shown that fat shaming actually does the opposite in terms of encouraging people to lose weight.
Maybe we should just not give a shit if someone is overweight?

Are you for real?
Like are you being serious?
'It's not your problem' it's EVERYBODY'S problem because it causes so many fucking problems, like here the NHS has so much resources and money going into things related to being over-weight that it is having a significant impact on our NATIONAL HEALTH SERVICE...
but nah you're right we should essentially promote being fat because 'ur bootifal no mttr how fat u are'

There's only two solutions to this:
Denounce fat acceptance hard, but without going full-retard.
OR
Strip obese people of health benefits.
Now with one seems most humane?
Fat shaming and fat acceptance are both shit. Making a hugbox where you pretend obesity is healthy won't help you lose weight. Losing willpower because people are making you feel shit about yourself won't help either.
okay time to come out of the closet
I occasionally browse FPH
not because its morally righteous or because its a morally correct thing to laugh at-- but pretty much because of the opposite. its a dirty, ruthless circlejerk that can be absolutely hilarious at times
if you don't like it, don't browse it. it isnt that hard
