• Valve launch community-created Steam tags; community pulls zero punches

[QUOTE=milkandcooki;43907564]No, I'm just not jumping to conclusions, because not everybody who uses Steam is like us. Not everybody understands these in-jokes. Saying that "anyone sensible can see the proper takes from the jokes" is kind of a stretch, tbh.[/QUOTE] Christ. Did you even look at how tags work before you decided to spend the thread whining? Given how you usually post probably not. If you think a tag is offensive or misleading you can report the tag and it will be reviewed. Plenty of pointless tags have already been removed.
Not to mention tags have zero effect on the game itself and are easily ignorable when you scroll down and read some community reviews or the metascore.
I love how total war: rome II is tagged as "rome wasn't patched in a day"
[QUOTE=Gray Altoid;43899259]/v/'s having a field day over this. [t]http://i.imgur.com/qB6G8qF.png[/t] That bottom right one. "It's funny until my favorite game gets made fun of :(" [t]http://i.imgur.com/CL3BqaC.png[/t] More crying people on tumblr However, this image pretty much sums it up for me. [img]http://i.imgur.com/tnF7tYJ.png[/img][/QUOTE] How dare people defend a game that they like that I don't.
[QUOTE=kaine123;43908295]How dare people defend a game that they like that I don't.[/QUOTE] How dare people offend a game they don't like and you do.
TF2 still has Hats as the #1 tag, sadly Dress Up as been removed by the looks of it boooo no fun
Valve should just beef up the moderation system, if tags you add get removed (perhaps with exceptions for tags that are just irrelevant) then all your tags should be ignored.
Honestly this is working great, some tags are a bit mean, but honestly, despite being offensive, gone homo sums up the game pretty well. Considering that at release some people thought it was a Horror game, it probably helps identify the game better. So yeah, obviously some improvements could be had, but the system is working IMO.

[QUOTE=danharibo;43908463]How does that tag in any way identify the game better? Surely, if anything it's a spoiler.[/QUOTE] Well its a story about a girl identifying as a homosexual. "going homo"
Damn, they removed the incest tag. It was actually accurate for Crusader Kings II.
This is such a dumb system...

[QUOTE=KennyAwsum;43910050]My god, people are having a fit over a game. :v: Whats new?[/QUOTE] I know, right, you should have seen how many morons were whining went when it won game of the year.
[QUOTE=SEKCobra;43908487]Well its a story about a girl identifying as a homosexual. "going homo"[/QUOTE] ohh, so thats why so many people on tumblr like this game. ''IT HAS HOMOSEXUALITY IN IT, 10/10''
[QUOTE=Laferio;43906136]I honestly hope these don't go away seeing these tags are [B]extremely[/B] accurate despite them being jokes.[/QUOTE] A lot of them are actually useful too. For instance, if you like things like Dear Esther and Gone Home, you can use the Not a Game tag or the Walking Simulator tag to find things similar. Also, I love how the [URL="http://store.steampowered.com/tag/en/GOTY/"]GOTY[/URL] tag seems to be almost entirely sarcastic. :v:
[QUOTE=Skyward;43910116]I know, right, you should have seen how many morons were whining went when it won game of the year.[/QUOTE] It didn't deserve game of the year. There were tons of better games released last year.
[QUOTE=Skyward;43910116]I know, right, you should have seen how many morons were whining went when it won game of the year.[/QUOTE] Tbh both sides are ridiculous. Both the people who rage over a meaningless award given to a game and those who cry because random internet trolls make fun of that game.
[QUOTE=Janus Vesta;43910828]It didn't deserve game of the year. There were tons of better games released last year.[/QUOTE] Well, its a good thing GOTY awards mean fuck all then.
[QUOTE=Skyward;43910992]Well, its a good thing GOTY awards mean fuck all then.[/QUOTE] GOTY award are worth more than the Oscars. That's why my favourite game won 80 of them.
