The Battlefield 4 launch is just another high profile cock up

I'd sooner blame the publisher than the developers, but it isn't acceptable to release a buggy/premature product. It just isn't. They could've done things differently such as extending the Beta and pushing back the release date, but they didn't, we bought a sub-par product and we shouldn't be complacent with that. It is possible to do better, disastrous launches shouldn't be something that we should learn to live with.

Beta couldn't have accounted for a lot of problems[/QUOTE]
You can barely call it a beta other than the state the game was in, and the fact it was an old build just further proves the point that it practically gave them nothing of value. Open Beta? more like a glorified demo these days. Now the closed / in house beta on the other hand? evidently not enough. Fixed deadlines? how about the valve approach of when it's done, you say the Console version works flawlessly then great go ahead and ship it but hold off on the PC release.
And no i don't just blame dice and I'm not just singling out BF4 (though this is a BF thread so hey go figure), i blame all 3 parties about equal. Publishers for rushing Dev's, Dev's for not putting their foot down and saying they need / want more time, and the consumers for not having the balls to say we expect more and 'we're in no rush for the game, take all the time you need'.
