The only game that would be difficult to port to PC would be mgsV all the other games were in the hd collection on xbox 360 which uses the same architecture as pc
except for MGS4, which would be the actual problem. I doubt there would be any problem in releasing MGS3 and PW. MGS1 and 2 already exist, albeit at least 1 of them being an extremely bad port, and I doubt MGS3 and PW would be hard to port.
Pretty sure they developed it with the PS3 exclusively in mind but the real problem is that it relies on so many gimmicks specific to the PS3 (or just consoles in general) they'd have to butcher it somewhat to get it on to other platforms. I can understand why people would want this stuff on the PC but let's face it--MGS was made for consoles and it's always gonna belong to the Playstation. It isn't like Halo's situation; There are a lot of features and gimmicks in these games that can't be reproduced properly on a PC without having to basically redo certain scenes or parts of the game. Not much of an issue for MG:R or MGS 5 since I'm pretty sure they were going for multi-plaform from the start, but for the earlier games... [editline]11th September 2014[/editline] I mean straight ports would work but they'd feel pretty cheap in places.
MGS games are one of the only games that actually used the pressure sensitive buttons on PS2/PS3, but they weren't really used for anything that couldn't be mapped to work similarly on a mouse and keyboard. But I agree that it would lose some of it's charm in the process.
The only game that would be difficult to port to PC would be mgsV all the other games were in the hd collection on xbox 360 which uses the same architecture as pc
How and why. MGSV is being made for everything.
The only game that would be difficult to port to PC would be mgsV all the other games were in the hd collection on xbox 360 which uses the same architecture as pc
You mean like how it's already on the PC??
I have yet to play any Metal Gear past MGS3, so a PC port of the entire MGS series would be pretty sweet. Hell, a PC version of MGS3 so I don't have to fiddle with a PS2 emulator or dig out my PS2 to play would be enough for me, as underwhelming as it would be in comparison.
It'll be clothes.
I wrote some port code in python for the collection, it'll be fine:
if 'metal_gear_solid_4': print "not coming to pc" else: print "coming to pc"

The only game that would be difficult to port to PC would be mgsV all the other games were in the hd collection on xbox 360 which uses the same architecture as pc
Which is why Saints Row 2 was such a great port, right?
Maybe this is why MGS: Source was shut down by Konami even after the devs got their permission to develop it.
I didn't even know MGS 1 was on PC.
So was MGS2. But the port is a good example of a very terrible PC port. It shutters no matter what hardware you have. The framerates don't drop but the animation will slow to a crawl sometimes and be non-responsive. It was ported by a third-party who did some horrible code for it. It's semi better with hardware today. but it was nigh unplayable when it was released. 3 was supposed to get a PC release but they decided not to after hearing how terrible the port was. I'm hoping they release a better version of it if they go multi-platform with the new collection.
I've always wanted to get into Metal Gear but never had the proper systems for it, so I'd be perfectly willing to buy this.
On the WiiU of course.
Alot of PC players love the MGS series and will welcome an HD collection. We need Peacewalker online with proper models and textures and Steamworks.
