the actual shooting gameplay of the original has aged so poorly that it makes the game unenjoyable if that's all you care about
apart from that it's ok
human revolution is ok too, probably the only video game i can think of that brings up a decent moral debate, too bad adam jensen is about as interesting as a bag of gravel (sounds like one too)

they both have pretty lame endings too
Bought it! Thanks guys :)

It's all in the eyes of the beholder. They can't make a game that appeases everyone.
The thing that has astounded me most about Deus Ex games is how choices have very long term and nuanced effects.
For example, you might end up choosing to spare a terrorist leader only to have him defect to help you halfway through the game, or you might receive different reactions from characters in the end of the game based on actions you might have done hours ago. If you mess around for too long when your boss tells you to report to him, you might have missed your chance to complete an extremely important side mission because time ran out. If you fail to kill someone when you have an easy chance at it, he or she might follow you throughout the game and become a boss encounter several acts later.
The list is endless, really.

I feel jealous for you guys playing these games for the first time, it's something special.
Whats with the huge amount of sales for Deus Ex?
Whats with the huge amount of sales for Deus Ex?
I don't know, maybe the game is on sale???

I like Invisible War's main theme.
I think people bash that game too much, too. The first Deus Ex set the bar extremely high, Invisible War doesn't quite match that, but it's still an enjoyable game.
Bought Deus Ex, Invisible War and the Missing Link, been thinking of getting Missing Link for a while now, good thing I did now, whee :D
I don't know, maybe the game is on sale???
No I'm not taking about actual sales as in the game being bought,I'm talking about the game always having discounts
I can just about run GTA IV , can I run HR?
You should be able to, HR is much less, well, everything intensive, as well as better optimized than GTA IV.
Anything is optimized better than GTA IV

It ran fine until they started updating the game. Now it runs like shit (GTA that is)
I first played Deus Ex back in 2006, and it is one of my favorite games I've ever played.
I was sold on it the minute I walked into the womens bathroom, scared some lady in there, and then later on during my mission brief my boss reprimanded me for doing it.
I mean, holy shit. I've never had a game actually recognize small, subtle actions I've done, and DX does that throughout the story. It really brings you in. Plus the story and its twists are really fucking good.
Human Revolution is an excellent sequel/prequel. It really captured the spirit of the first game. The only bad thing about it are the terrible outsourced boss fights (especially since the book gives them a LOT of depth and makes them into interesting characters, but the game does not), the story falls flat for the last third/fourth of the game, and thematically it feels slightly forced compared to the first Deus Ex (in that, it's odd how a prequel ends up looking much more futuristic and advanced than the first game, even if it is a "golden age" - and a lot of the themes behind the plot seem slightly ham-fisted).
Still though, the story in HR overall is still really good, even if I think DX1 handled its narrative better. The level design is amazing, especially Tai Yong Medical, the art design is awesome, it has really great non-linear gameplay and it's actually quite a long game (took me 40 hours to beat on my first run, but I took my time. 2nd run through is a lot shorter, about 20-22 hours).
Missing Link is better than the base game IMO, especially the boss fight in it, albiet a little claustrophobic. And it really doesn't make sense story wise... supposed to take place between the "missing link" in the story about half way through... but it really wasn't a missing link, and everything that happens in Missing Link screams "narrative filler". But gameplay wise, setting, etc is really fun. And it actually is semi long too.
It's funny cos Jensen mentions he doesn't know where he been after he wakes up anyway.

This confuses me as well
Anyone wanna gift me Deus EX HR with DLC in exchange for:
Tripwire Interactive Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45
And
Oddworld Inhabitants Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee + Exoddus
Please?
Not too long ago I started to play through this game for the 3rd time and it still is amazing as when I first played it. Currently have played it for 44.8 hours.
Sadly I'm only missing the Missing Link DLC since I got the other DLC's with my Collector's Edition.
