Battlefield Heroes is closing on July 14th: "The time is right to retire this veteran game"

Man, this game was so fun before they starting abusing the F2P aspect...
Concerning Dawngate, actually, apparently there is a group that's attempting to revive it somehow. That said their Facebook page hasn't been updated for about 2 months, though hopefully EA haven't tried to stop them from bringing back something that EA and Waystone abandoned just because they couldn't see it going anywhere.
2009/2010 Closed Beta. Best times I ever had.

I remember me and some random guy discovered that if you had a soldier with vehicle repair in a tank, you could drive it into the ocean on the pirate map and use the momentum from shooting the cannon to propel yourself through the water while repairing the continuous "tank in water" damage.
We were the true terror of the seven seas that day.
[QUOTE=SPYshimitsu;47532912]Umm... guys... i think i just find out, that not only BFHeroes are closing.
Other F2P titles such as NFS world, BFP4F and FIFA World (excluding Star Wars Old Respublic and C&C Tiberium Alliance) are also closing in the same date.

That's a bit of a shame, despite the crap business model I had some fond memories of Play4Free, gave it up when my installation broke on me and I couldn't fix it though.
Kind of strange that EA is doing this now a relatively short amount of time after CoD made a spinoff in the same model with CoD Online, and Halo about to do the same with Halo Online.
nfsw is making a huge amount of money. not sure about the rest. i wonder why they are closing it
Battlefield Heroes was one of the very few knock offs of TF2 that was good. Until the F2P ruined it.
I guess I should play at least a little of this before it shuts down. As it stands, this is the one and only Battlefield game I haven't played yet.

how the fuck was BFH a knock off of TF2
literally the thing even vaguely similar about them is the art style, which is only similar in that things are cell shaded

cartoon art style =/= TF2 knock off...

It had nothing to do with TF2 tho.
and TF2 wasn't free at that point either.

Even then, the style of which they're shaded is different
Compare just the ways the models are textured and shaded

Battlefield Heroes's artstyle feels more reminiscent of a drawing than TF2's
It's also a bit more bright and cheery than TF2, which actually kind of reflects the tone of each game. BFH is simple lighthearted fun, TF2 is goofy layered over dark humor
