Shame it was mediocre at best.
It's stupid to say this is an "Alternative timeline" or a "Pseudo-sequel", there is absolutely nothing that ties it to the Half life universe beyond it being basically fan fiction. It has nothing to do with Half Life itself. From what i've seen of the mod it's extremely mediocre and attempts to pass itself off as "semi-official".
I really dislike how much free marketing this mod got by being called "an unofficial sequel to half life" by numerous big name sites. In reality it's just an average mod, that would have easily passed for a free mod on moddb
Dunno why this guy had his mind set for valve. Sure it seems appealing but deep down and rumor mill says that it really isn't all that great of an environment [editline]21st April 2016[/editline] You have to admire his dedication though. But it seemed he had just done one map before doing an entire mod. Seems quite silly [editline]21st April 2016[/editline] It's also a dick move for valve to not say literally anything
was it better than Alchemilla at least because if anyone should get a job at valve is that guy my only complaint with that game is no monsters making it a walking simulator which was fine it had good story and stuff
While Prospekt had some impressive setpieces, it really failed to match the tone of a Half Life game. The first chapter of the mod felt promising, by introducing a few small puzzles and several environmental hazards, but the second half of the mod seemed to just completely lose any and all focus. There's too much focus on combat, having the player shoot down wave after wave of enemies populating large, empty hallways. Countless hallways, broken up by one or two smaller rooms with enemies and maybe a med kit or ammo, and the occasional elevator to transfer you over to the next set of hallways. The mod's idea of difficulty is throwing 5 enemies at the player and expecting them to survive and enjoy the ultimately boring and outdated combat mechanics of Half Life 2, without any sort of gimmick like the gravity gun or crossbow for the player to fall back on once they get tired of shooting the same bullet-sponge combine troopers with HL2's default guns. In the 3 hours it took me to beat this mod, I felt like I'd killed more than twice the amount of combine I did in Half Life 2. I don't think I would've enjoyed the mod at all if I hadn't switched to easy half way through. This is not how you make a Half Life game.
