The shiny walls are, as I said, exaggerated, yet they make sense. If a light is next to a wall, the wall should be lit up properly by the source. By taking away the shine, the walls just seem disconnected from the lights next to them. The two fixtures hanging from the walls shouldn't be treated as glowy things that only vaguely influence the lighting of the surfaces they're right next to, they should be brightening it up in proximity. The lighting as a whole in the collection actually seems to be subtly dulled down, which could potentially be a slight problem later in actual gameplay since Bioshock loved its expressive lighting.
You've made a valid point about the game's art direction (as have other people), but the fixture's aren't source of the shiny walls. I imagine the yellow light above is creating the yellow shine on the wall, and as you said, seems to have been dulled down (which also may explain the lack of shine in the collection). Regardless, the collection is still a big improvement on the old for other reasons (including lighting).
Am I the only one who finds the Andrew Ryan remastered statue look worse than the old one. The old one looked more menacing than the new one which looks more like a Oscar statuette.
