From Software are not your usual cash grabbing developers. They have standarts and priniciples, if you would read the interviews and news about them, you would know that.

I just hope From Software remembers their roots, remembers that they didn't easily sell over a million by doing what the publishers wanted and copying some other successful game. They actually almost never got to make Demon's Souls because publishers that played it basically said "I don't get it, all I do is die. This game will never sell because I, some business suit wearing old guy, can't play it." They didn't budge and inch though when people told them to change it, and released it to become a smash hit despite being a new IP from no one special in particular. Now that they're basically saying they're doing what publishers wanted, it just feels wrong. I don't trust this new guy right now, but hopefully I'll be proven wrong.

Anyone know the song in the trailer?
Anyone know the song in the trailer?

I'm pretty sure it was made specifically for the trailer so no one knows. I'd love it too :(
I'm a little bit disappointed they didn't name it something else than "Dark" Souls. Another name would've made it a little bit more unique as a sequel/prequel.
Fuck my ass I want that song so bad.

They could have just gone with 'Dark Souls: Subtitle Here' but who knows, maybe Dark Souls 2 is a working title.

Those guys in the masks look like the statues in the painted world who wear that type of mask.
I am not worried about them dumbing it down at all. It's like Bohemia streamlining ARMA3. There's tons of room for improvement in control and gameplay department and it isn't like they're going to make it any less complex and do something like say Dragon Age Origins to Dragon Age 2. They're just going to make it less convoluted and more fun to play. Dark Souls is known for the hardcore no casual allowed gameplay. They're not going to shit on that.
Most likely a prequel. Those guys in the masks look like the statues in the painted world who wear that type of mask.
not even close.
The name means nothing. Dark Souls was originally going to be named Demon's Souls 2. Sony wouldn't let go of the name though when they decided to release on 360. They're just doing numbers now because they can, not because it is particularly related to the last story.
then why is it called dark souls 2.
then why is it called dark souls 2.
Because a numbering system is what they originally wanted to do. What I'm saying is if Dark Souls if Demon's Souls 2, then why should Dark Souls 2 be any different than the difference between Demon's Souls and Dark Souls?
lmao because in the trailer it clearly stated, "you are undead, there is no light" etc, dragons, anor lando...

I doubt there was JUST a simple name-change.
I mean its pretty damn clear its set in THE dark souls universe, you're just waaaay overthinking it.
guys, they aren't saying they want to make it more like Elder Scrolls, they're saying they want it to be just as popular as Elder Scrolls
I love the scenery in the trailer so much, that is what I loved so much about the series. The lost and desloated areas like caves or old passes. Gives you an amazing feeling. Also this might be interesting, ENB is the man.
I really hope they have a better anti-cheat system and do a proper port for DS2 otherwise I might just go buy the 360 version again
I really hope they have a better anti-cheat system and do a proper port for DS2 otherwise I might just go buy the 360 version again
The fact that they claim the multiplayer will be server-based says a lot of good things about reduced cheating. It's pretty much impossible to stop people when the hosting and the character profiles are both on the computers of the people who are playing.
This game is going to be a prequel.
This game is going to be a prequel.
Maybe, maybe not.
This game is going to be a prequel.
It might be a prequel storywise but it's still the successor of Dark Souls, so it makes it a sequel :v:
Maybe, maybe not.
The way the first ended I cannot see how it could possibly be a sequel. Plus that dragon looks a lot like kalameet, you know that dragon you go back in time and kill. Plus after watching epic name bros video, it really sounds like its going to be a prequel and that its going to be a journey to Lodran, instead of just being put into it by a crow.
lmao because in the trailer it clearly stated, "you are undead, there is no light" etc, dragons, anor lando...
That's clearly not Anor Londo though, dragons existed in Demon's Souls as well, and the undead thing is the only tie we have to the last game, which technically in Demon's Souls, you were undead too.
that big city with the over it isn't anor londo??? what
