I can't help it but after all these tactical shooters with proper firing positions and poses, the CSS hip-firing style just feels.. idiotic.
But I'm sure I'll give it a go, even though I haven't played CS or CSS in like 5 years :o
Oh man iron sights sure make a game awful even if every non-pistol gun in CS:S could work well with iron sights. See the P90.
I've had enough of games where I have to ram a scope up my nose that covers 75% of the screen or the bullets will come out at a 45 degree angle.
Honestly it looks like shit.
Same crappy "Fire in the hole fire in the hole fire in the hole Terrorists win." voices.
And the way they hold guns looks like they broke their left arm in about 3 places.
I thought I wouldn't agree, but I do.
To be completely honest, I was expecting a more coddish gameplay, or at the very least, a difference from CSS.
Yet, the animations seem even worse then CS 1.6 where the weapon went "back and forth" from the players prespective, it still seems that the game is still a crosshair only game where you'll have to squint your eyes to blindness and crouch to aim and hit someone a bunch of meters away unless you want to hit the largest side of a barn while aiming in the oposite way.
I bet flashbangs will again be the "advantage" over everything, in where ever you go, you'll eat 6 flashbangs for sure.
Snipers and junk should still be the same "point and win" thing that wins the match unless you have built-in aimbot and cyborg reflexes on your body to be fast enough to kill him before he kills you.
And thats about it for now I think. I should underline the word animations, because, they really really suck. Even compared to CS1.6
CS1.6! Where models ran around like floor boards and looked like chickens when crouching.
I really hope this is a "very far from completion beta".
I would love it if VIP came back.
I hope they make more gamemodes like that for CS:GO

Considering we still have ~6 months to go i would say this is alpha with just the basic new features implemented
like leaf runner said, no idea what most of you guys were expecting, it's counter-strike, it's CLASSIC. It looks great anyway.
If it's a classic then why do we need a new version.
I think the circle menu is a good call for both versions.
For consoles it gives ease of use and allows quickly getting through menus
And on PC it allows you to pick your weapon faster.
Think of it, why is the Pentagon shaped like a pentagon? When you are in a loop rather than being linear you can get to places faster. The same is true with your mouse, or a joystick.
I wholeheartedly agree. It's for ease of use. I think it takes up more time using the current system to buy weapons and such (like in CSS and 1.6) that having this circle menu.
I really hope they add more game modes. I don't want another generic, bland, team deathmatch game.
What made Counterstrike great when I first played the beta as a kid was the unique way it let you interact with other people. There's no other game that gave you feeling of stress and anxiety by guarding a VIP through a map filled with hostile terrorists. The tactical feeling of storming an office building to save some hostages, it's just really fun.
With CS:S, I was left disappointed. They basically made your PC sweat more just to give you eye candy but they neglected what made CS great; the gameplay. I really hope Valve lives up to their name.
