DICE aren’t worried about military shooter genre oversaturation; "There are not that many out there"
It wouldn't surprise me at all if DICE jumped onto 2143 after Battlefront. I mean, if Battlefront proves widely popular, it's only natural that they'd want to continue the sci-fi focus.
Not to mention, sci-fi seems to be a big potential genre.
Sci-Fi Battelfield has a lot of potentional, considering DICE have done this experiment before, and many loved it.

Let's see Battlefront first.

2142 didn't sell well enough to continue going down that path, which is why they haven't even skirted a futuristic game despite making 4 modern ones in a row.
How has ArmA III not aged well when it's not even released yet?
He's the oh wise one from the future.
Listen to his prophecies if you want to avoid doomsday.
Okay sure not that many military shooters coming out, but let's see here.
What military shooter doesn't involve you being part of an elite special forces team going around different locales to save the world from Russian Ultranationalists/Terrorists/Bit of both?
I can count them with my hand if I had a few fingers chopped off.
there weren't a lot of weapons that were used and most of them were more or less the same
not really, arguably modern guns are more "samey" with 5.56 stanags all over.
Watch as we get a fuckton of retro futuristic influenced FPS games.

True, but they also resurrected Vietnam (which was highly underrated when it came out) and it sold very well as DLC for BC2.
You can still find a lot of BC2: Vietnam games on PC. Which is pretty strange given BF3's success and BF4's upcoming release.

far cry 3
far cry 2
spec ops the line
homefront
arma 2: oa (more of an organized force and less of terrorists)
arma 2
arma 3
if we're stretching the definition
metro 2033 (horror elements)
fear
(this isn't including WWII games)
I think I specified a bit too much in that post :v:
i could go for a wwii fps
there's not a lot of potential for WW2
everybody knows what happened
there weren't a lot of weapons that were used and most of them were more or less the same
and it's already been done to death in the past decade
There's loads of potential with WW2, it's just that no one other than Wolfenstein has really had the balls to try something different with the source material or tried hard enough to take it away from corridor shooter territory.

Because I clearly meant the other ones, use a little logic
Halo 3 is fucking 6 years old, how does it EVEN look better than current games?
The thought of clarifying that Arma 3 wasn't included in the list that haven't aged well actually crossed my mind but I didn't think anybody would be that pants on head retarded to require the information
