You sure about that? The original announcement trailer said it was coming holiday 2011, then they pushed it back to Q1 2012.
DA2 was a fucking disappointment in every aspect compared to the original DA. I'm not even sure how they managed to bring the graphic fidelity down

I'm talking about what is supposed to be before it was EVER announced at all.
I'd say Mass Effect 1 was the last time Bioware wrote an excellent plot and characters, before that Kotor and Kotor 2 are probably the only examples of RPG's I can think of where the characters were genuinely original and consistently likeable.
You can pretty much describe and feel the traits and character of any party member in Kotor, but seriously, try and describe Ashley/Kaidan, without saying they're unreasonable (thanks ME2) whiny bitches.
Literally the only thing memorable to me about the former is the one conversation where she turns out to be a complete alien racist in the first game, and the conversations about her parents and sister in that game, specifically how her father is the only human ever to surrender to an alien race.
idk man, BioWare did a good job in Dragon Age: Origins if you ask me. The characters were really good and depending on your choices had some really nice development throughout the game. On top of this I found that the world felt pretty immersive because there weren't always clear good/evil sides (see Harrowmont and Bhelen) plus your choices fucking mattered to the ending.
But hey, maybe it's just me and everybody else hates Dragon Age.

I feel the exact opposite, though I'm probably the one in the minority. The only characters I sort of liked were the comic relief ones, and maybe Wynn. The setting just felt to close to the standard fantasy setting to be interesting, but too far off to have it's charm and sense of adventure. And the not "always clear" choices felt they were just at the opposite end of the spectrum where they felt artificially constructed to make choose between two horrible things.
ME3 and DA2 sure sucked in the writing, but The Old Republic had some of the very best video-game writings I've ever seen ever!!

That's not unrealistic you know.

Uh... I liked The Old Republic and even I can't say that.
Mass Effect 3's writing was god awful all the way through don't even start with the ending being the only bad part. Example: The Galaxy is getting bum fucked by the Reapers now why don't we start another war with the Geth?
Both ME2 and ME3 had godawfull plot writing. Bioware has not been good at plot writing since DA1, maybe even kotor 1 and have usually tried to balance it out with good character writing.
ME2 is a perfect example. Me3 then failed because they actually had to include some plotprogression and couldn't pad it with characters only
Comparing Witcher to Dragon Age, what?
If you were comparing Neverwinter and Dragon Age that would be a bit different, but your comparison makes literally no sense.
Uh DA and Witcher are single player fantasy RPGs, neverwinter is a fantasy MMORPG
It is stupid how both ME1 and DAO were damn good original IPs but sequels turned out from okayish to downright bad in case of DA2. Maybe they need to make more new IPs instead?
DA:o was not a good game. It was essentially nothing but a grind of ice magic. And anyone that went trough the deep roads can attest to that.

well the imperial agent was surprisingly well written
well the imperial agent was surprisingly well written
Yeah, but that's because he's really the only one that got finished. Which is a shame.
I mean I enjoyed my BH's story, but it wasn't really much to write home about.
i don't know much about the plot of The Old Republic but i know that what they did with Revan was atrocious

Agreed. That part of the plot is my biggest complaint with the game. But really, how I played the game, it was pretty minor. I focused more on my class story stuff.
Only good RPG writers currently in the business are Obsidian and CD Projekt, calling it.

Oh yeah man I totally agree. I loved how Bioware acted like children about KoTor 2 and decided to fuck it up the ass with retcons. I also loved how it was basically a singeplayer RPG with a chatbox, only with shit graphics.

It's kind of strange really, as their subplot writing is still pretty damn good. As far as I'm concerned, the only thing that genuinely saves Mass Effect 3's story from COMPLETE disaster is the strong writing for Tuchanga and Rannoch; if it wasn't for that, even I couldn't find much to defend the game. Mass Effect 2 was effectively just a collection of subplots loosely strung together by the plot though, which oddly enough kind of worked in the game's favor; the character stories are infinitely more interesting than the Reaper subplot in my opinion.
Tuchanka was alright, but Rannoch's plot was kinda weak, IMO.

I'll admit I'm a bit biased because I really liked the story between the Geth and the Quarians. Maybe if I ever get around to a second playthrough of Mass Effect 3 I'll notice the faults a bit more.
The fact you haven't says all that need be said.

A new Neverwinter Nights game would be great.

Maybe, I don't really like what 4e did with Forgotten Realms though.
