• Battlefield 4 won't have co-op due to 'focus' on single and multiplayer

For the love of god hire a proper writer. I am sure there are hundreds of interesting war stories to be told but noo all we get is this generic crap. [editline]29th March 2013[/editline]
More like "we're cutting this feature because well, let's be honest, it was shite."
It was shite because it wasn't refined well enough. Since BF3 sp and from what we've seen 4th too has no story, they could just throw a second player in SP for some sweet coop action.
You can hardly call that co-op. Irrelevant Scraping this and the Wii U version of the game tells me that corners are flying off of everything at DICE, design experimentation is giving weigh to assembly line efficiency to getting something shipped. This is going to be Battlefield 3.5 if even that, not like a give a fuck though because I'm not buying it until I see 2143.
Okay let me get this straight, when Bioshock Infinite cuts the MP it's amazing news but when Battlefield cuts coop they're cutting corners?
Better yet, why not just let two people play through the campaign? I know, I know. Long answer: because it would break the immersion, the story and cut scenes need to focus on a single player and having two wouldn't work. Short answer: because fuck you.
Okay let me get this straight, when Bioshock Infinite cuts the MP it's amazing news but when Battlefield cuts coop they're cutting corners?
It's an unfortunate case of Ricitiello Syndrome, where if EA is attached to a game then all positive thoughts and emotions towards it are turned negative.
Okay let me get this straight, when Bioshock Infinite cuts the MP it's amazing news but when Battlefield cuts coop they're cutting corners?
Welcome to facepunch lemme just take your coat.
Co-op was quite fun but was almost unplayable due to the bugs. If they aren't going to do it right I'd rather them not do it at all.
They could always just add a cheap SP coop like in world at war, where you simply had two main characters instead of one, each being a duplicate.
I don't understand why companies don't do this. It's an easy way out and it's actually funner than no co-op at all. Even more so that you're able to mess around with a friend

All of the design considerations (AI behaviour, environment scale, item and weapon pickups) and technical considerations (netcode, cutscenes, NPC interaction) you make for a singleplayer game are completely different when you involve multiple players.
Good, the BF3 coop was pretty half assed and people only played it to get the multiplayer unlocks anyway.
I didn't play it even for those.
are there still no bots? is DICE still lying about not being able to mod it? do you still have to launch the game from a browser? is battlefield 4 going to be the same terrible game battlefield 3 was? [editline]28th March 2013[/editline]
I didn't play it even for those.
tbh the helicopter level was fun as fuck if you were actually capable of communicating with the other player
I'd rather have no coop than the cumulative waste of time that was BF3 coop, but echoing earlier posts, an actual cooperative campaign feature would be sweet. Oh well, atleast I won't have to grind boring 5 minute long shooting galleries to get a revolver.

Add in a little side character that accompanies you and has his own little spots in cutscenes and shit. And if you decide to go solo through the campaign he just wouldn't appear ingame. That would actually be pretty cool. I found it kinda impressive how they actually took the time in DS3 to make the second player show up in cutscenes and actually have a presence in the game rather than just disappearing when cutscenes started.
Coop was hard as shit.
tbh the helicopter level was fun as fuck if you were actually capable of communicating with the other player
Fun as fuck is a huge overstatement.
This is great, the co-op was a piece of shit, I only played it for the guns. Now they should focus on making the singleplayer a tutorial for multiplayer. Teach players the value of teamwork, how to fly aircraft, the best way to complete objectives.
Teach players the value of teamwork, how to fly aircraft
Would increase the quality of the average Battlefielder by atleast 400%.
I don't know why they don't just leave the singleplayer out completely. Nobody plays Battlefield because of the story.
Is co-op no literally like the mix of both... yet they wont have it? heh weird.
Would increase the quality of the average Battlefielder by atleast 400%.
I never learned how to fly in BF3 because there was no safe way to do it. Either I get blown out of the sky in seconds be a much better pilot or I waste my team's time and resources by practicing. I can fly helicopters okay thanks to the helo coop mission, the only mildly decent part of the coop.

I can't say I'd recommend getting Endgame unless you just straight up get Premium on sale, though. As for coop, people didn't like it because it was a piece of shit. Maybe if they made it less shit people would like it and would do better than a game without it.
But isn't co-op multiplayer?
it's usually biplayer
tbh the helicopter level was fun as fuck if you were actually capable of communicating with the other player
yes the helicopter level is the only level i played to give some newbie a crazy ride
BF4- cutting co-op for better sp and mp BF5- cutting sp for better mp Bf6- cutting mp and the bf series because we are already rich
Good, the BF3 coop was pretty half assed and people only played it to get the multiplayer unlocks anyway.
Coop was the closest I got to actually playing the campaign.
This game just looks like more of the same so far.
You know what, while they're at it they might as well cut the SP and just focus all their resources on MP instead. In BF3 you don't even get 10 different maps without having to shell out extra cash for DLC, while the SP and Coop are just tacked on, utterly mediocre and forgettable experiences. Imagine how much more MP content there could be if they didn't waste their time building another generic SP.
Good, the BF3 coop was pretty half assed and people only played it to get the multiplayer unlocks anyway.
It sucked in BF3 but I'd rather see the coop redone to be actually fun than scrapped completely.
Did I miss something? I thought coop was literally the bomb, it was awesome Maybe it's a different experience without a mic.
Why would you not add such a good feature for ANY game? Seriously Co-op adds so much replayability and appeal to a game, it's unbelievable.
