While this does sound interesting I still have little interest in the game, CoD gunplay bores the hell out of me.
Yeah the gunplay mechanics worked well for their time in CoD4 but they seriously need an upgrade. It's not smooth at all compared to modern games and feels like what you'd expect a free to play fps to play like. I think it's because of the guns never moving except for slight twitches when you shoot them. Makes it look super choppy.
Wow, how many of these games have been made?
Wow, how many of these games have been made?
probably too much
probably too much
Too many Modern Warfare games for sure. [editline]4th May 2012[/editline] Specifically one too many.
Lol what We've seen, what, thirty seconds of gameplay?
So what? maybe it's because they enjoyed World at War and Black Ops and are excited to see the new stuff that's being added in. If FP can get excited over static noise that says Battlefield 3 and pre order over that then I see nothing wrong with this.
Yeah the gunplay mechanics worked well for their time in CoD4 but they seriously need an upgrade.
Wow, how many of these games have been made?
Well 1 Black Ops game has been made and Treyarch have made 3 games, so that's not much, the name doesn't really matter since it's 2 different developers so I don't see what your trying to go with this.
Just preordered! [sub][sub][sub]joking[/sub][/sub][/sub]
Why are you even in a thread about pre-ordering a CoD game. Or just spam me with dumbs instead of answering a completely legitimate question.
I wasn't aware that I wasn't allowed to come to a CoD thread unless I was a fan of the series. I also have the right to post my opinion and you have the right to post yours. I "spammed" you with dumb(s) because you pretty much just said "Don't like Call of Duty? Then GET OUT!"
It doesn't look smooth at all to me. The way the camera zooms on the sights, plus the gun never moving when you fire it, plus the hitscan system makes the entire experience feel choppy as a whole to me. Maybe it's just a personal thing for me but MW3's gunplay did not feel like that of a $60 game from 2011 when I played it over the free weekend.
dispite popular belief call of duty black ops 2 changes alot http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/122/1224158p1.html
It doesn't change one thing; the popular kids and jocks at school will still play it. That's still a big strike against it in nerd world.
The gunplay feels like no recoil cannons with shitty gun sounds firing at other no recoil cannons with shitty gun sounds, you're also comparing a hugely funded game to a f2p shooter. I liked black ops, there;s no need for the blind hate, I agree. But to blindly defend this game is silly, Treyarch promised Dedicated servers and instead gave us shitty ones with little control, they promised mod tools, we got shitty incredibly limited tools. They lie, to increase sales, so a lot of people are incredibly sceptical about this "Strike force" thing, they say it makes for an incredibly open experience, but in reality it will probably just be "Press x to choose from one linear mission to the next"
It doesn't change one thing; the popular kids and jocks at school will still play it. That's still a big strike against it in nerd world.
So you're simply not going to consider it because it's too ~mainstream~ for you?
Preordered because I'm not going to let the man carry me down.
I wouldn't tell you not to preorder because it's Call of Duty I would just think it's dumb to preorder anything when they've shown basically nothing of it.

Then GET OUT!"
I never said you had to be a fan of the series, and I never said you didn't have the right to say a game is bad, just genuinely wondered why someone who admits that he doesn't like CoD would go into a CoD thread to let everyone else know they don't like CoD. I didn't pretty much say anything, I blatantly asked a question that piqued my curiosity. Sorry if you are so defensive about it, I didn't know it was SOP to go into threads for games you don't like nor care about. I just typically don't go to those threads because I have no interest. Thanks for the alternative viewpoint :)
It doesn't change one thing; the popular kids and jocks at school will still play it. That's still a big strike against it in nerd world.
You know, people say Call of Duty is killing gaming. But I disagree. I think separating people into groups and invalidating their opinions is killing gaming far more effectively then a slightly-redundant popular FPS series that is going to eventually die an be replaced by the next slightly-redundant popular FPS series.

Visuals are not that important to me to be honest, as long as the game is consistent with it's graphics and it looks decent and the game is fun then I don't see the problem. For the gunplay, that has nothing to do with how smooth it is, that has to do with the gun play it's self, it's still smooth but that doesn't mean it's good, its arcady just like CoD has always been since CoD 1, I brought up the f2p shooter because that's what Meller Yeller was comparing it to or else it would of made no sense to say that. The mod tools were a disappointment but that's Activisions choice not Treyarchs, the Strike Force mode would mean massive sales for CoD if it's true and affects all 3 platforms and not just PC so idk about that. Also were the dedicated servers limited? I thought server owners had plenty of control over them?
Words
Just keep in mind, I'm referring to Treyarch and activision as one (Because they basically are) The problem with the gunplay, is that it's unsatisfying, that's why they flash big +200 ULTRA LONGSHOT on your screen whenever you get a kill, it's designed to be easy and reward you with flashy colours
I'll actually be preordering this. Treyarch actually makes good COD games, and this looks more promising than the other games. But my PayPal was shut down, so it will definitely be at GameStop or something.
I'm still fucking amazed at how all it took to get Facepunch to swallow a load of Treyarch was a future setting. Seriously. You guys rant on about how awful these games are and suddenly they throw on a future skin pack and now it's like the next Half Life or some shit for you people. It's gonna be the same fucking game as always. Same mediocre gameplay, same recovering health, same linear levels, same handheld tours through setpieces... why do you people still buy into this shit?
because we find it fun maybe?
no that's bullshit stop liking what I don't like you whore
if you don't like CoD then get the fuck out of the thread. You're not being edgy saying OH THIS IS A REHASH. NONE of you have even played the game or seen anything other than a 2 minute trailer.
Trying too hard.
But.. this happens every year. Step 1) New COD Announced. All of FP announces "THIS ONE'S GONNA CHANGE THINGS! THIS ONE'S GONNA BE FANTASTIC! Step 2.) Game comes out. Turns out, NOTHING CHANGED. Step 3.) All of FP turns against COD and goes back to hating until the newest one comes out.
Facepunch! Bandwagons ahoy!
They should release the same game again. I wonder if anyone will notice. Seriously though, my animation teacher has worked on the CoD franchise and he says there is barely any development art and things like that.

Most arcadey fps games have unsatisfying gun play though, depends if you can just have fun with it or not. If I want to play a mission where I shoot a bunch of civilians at an airport I have to play MW2 for that, if I want to play a mission where I travel down a river shooting Vietnamese while listing to the Rolling Stones I can only play Black Ops for that. I have all those games when I want a different experience and CoD when I want that arcade shooting experience mindless fun (even though they are adding RTS missions to Black Ops). Very interested in this game and everything new it is offering, gonna pre-order it eventually. Not through Steam though, Steam and its prices can get fucked. I'll prob get it through ozgameshop or cdwow.com.au depending on which is cheaper (suggest you Aussies to do the same).

Also, still trying too hard.
So you're simply not going to consider it because it's too ~mainstream~ for you?
More like we've had enough of people talking about it at school, you would be annoyed too if you heard people talking about it every day constantly. Really, you are going to say this happens every year? Go read some MW3 threads. Relevant ones aren't that old so it should be easy.
