Lets have a quick thought experiment shall we? Put yourself in the publishers shoes for a minute: the last two games sold pretty well for their genre, making a profit. Do you make a new game and generate possible profit (pleasing your shareholders and making more dolla)? Or just stop and hope your earnings for the year are still good enough? Put yourself in the developers shoes: you have created this expansive universe, with a lot of detail that you have only managed to touch on in the last few games. The fans clearly want to see more of the game, but you think the game might be stale. Do you create a new game, and change some mechanics to stop it being stale, allowing you to explore the world you made more, risking bad feedback? Or just cut your losses and hope your publisher is cool with that? There are right and wrong answers to both of those, I think you know which ones are right. If not, you're deluded.
I certainly wouldn't shoot myself in the foot a la Capcom, changing my best franchise so much and pulling such horrible business practices that people hate.
I can't be the only one who thought Isaac had a slight resemblance to The Walking Dead show's Rick Grimes in at the end of that trailer.
Also you missed a trailer.
Imagine if they air'd that on TV instead of the other schlock for wide audience attention.
