All aboard the hate wagon! Choo choo!!
he said they don't look fun it really seems like a lot of people like jump on an anti bandwagon now or something
Just because something can be done fast doesn't mean it requires little talent. So you actively know that's all the time they had and you're still shitting on it?
Yeah.
Almost everyone in this thread doesn't get the point of the jam. I got a few enjoyable games for a few bucks, Got to watch them being created, and my money went to charity. That's a triple win in my books. These people donated their time for charity and you people bitch about the quality of the games..
If you read the blog post these were all made in 72 hours, likely explaining the low res art.
You guys are just saying they dont look fun because mojang made them. I don't understand the mojang-hate boner
Miiiiight throw a dollar their way because I want to checkout that Wolfire game.
Compared to other games it really doesn't. That's why they choose it to make a game in 72 hours.
you seem to think that "talent=time" any artstyle requires talent and time to look really good pixel-art in particular can look good in little time if made by a talented person
Beside the fact that it's for charity, they all suck hard. Fuck this shit. I bought them, so yeah.
You guys are just saying they dont look fun because mojang made them. I don't understand the mojang-hate boner
Mojang decided to make a bunch of games for some reason instead of focusing on one, and the result is that all of their games look shittier than the ones made by the other indie devs. Tektonic is like the only 2D one that looks pretty good.
That's exactly what I'm saying. Pixel art takes little talent.
If you cheat and use big programs that do it for you sure, but real pixel art is made from scratch. Pixel by pixel. Saying that takes little talent is really untrue.

Ehhh it's an old random thing I found. Judging by the user who made it it's probably years upon years old.
I hope that isn't an example of good pixel art because it really doesn't do it justice.
I'm frequently in awe of some of the work that appears on the r/PixelArt.
Wolfire's game looks neat.
It's funny to see it's the only game that has been made in 3D. Like they are the only one who actually put effort in it and went beyond programming a basic frame with some pixel art above it. [editline]24th February 2013[/editline] I would love to see a game with 3D graphics and 3D models with pixel art textures on them, see how the artist manages to use both the depth offered by 3D and the details of pixel art to make something good looking.
Just bought it a bit ago and I gotta say Wasteland Kings and the pizza one are pretty cool. Wasteland Kings is kinda like Binding of Isaac X Borderlands definitely worth the penny I spent.
All aboard the hate wagon! Choo choo!!
Wagons don't go "Choo Choo", That's trains, Dipshit.
To anybody who finds pixel art interesting I'd suggest you go and check out Pietepiet, he's the guy who did the art for Wasteland Kings, he's actually pretty damn good.
Hehe it says Mojang or Minecraft let's post negative comments *snort*
None of these games look particularly interesting.
This is how I feel about a lot of humble indie bundles really, though there was one that did interest me.
I've heard good things about Wasteland Kings. What's it about?
none of these look fun, and all of these look pretentious as fuck.
You are using pretentious wrong. I see nothing pretentious about any of these, they just look like simple games.
Hehe it says Mojang or Minecraft let's post negative comments *snort*
that'll wipe that smirk right off Notch's fedora but it won't make me feel any better about myself......
I've heard good things about Wasteland Kings. What's it about?
It's a top-down shooter, but with a high difficulty and damn quick gameplay, I've played it for a couple of hours now and it's really hard not to get addicted to it. The pace is super-quick and there's different characters with different abilities. Think Binding of Isaac, except faster gameplay and instead of gaining and keeping items, you gain levels that improve your character. Think that's about it.
