I actually agree, I think Sven went downhill when they started introducing their own models and sounds for existing guns. It just didn't have that great HL1 feeling anymore.
What you don't get is you would still be complaining if they hadn't done that because it would look like the exact same game then, the changes they made likely only made the game last longer.
Oh no, I hope that isn't the amazing bug where you get players into orbit around each other
Please let it not be this. Me and my friends laughed for like 30 minutes straight when we first accidentally did it, and it was amazing to use in the rest of the playthrough.
I kind of miss the old days of 3.0 when I could play through Half-life in co-op, rather than playing through HALF-LIFE: TACTICOOL EDITION With a ton of different guns that handled and reacted differently.

Well it's true. They changed a lot of the weapons. The weapons behave differently, look different and sound different to how they did in vanilla half-life.
And they DO have needless scopes and lasers and stuff for no reason. The point of svencoop is to play half-life co-operatively, anything additional to that is a bonus. By changing how the game is played, they're changing half-life, and if I just want to play half-life co-operatively, then I can't do that with 4.7.
Not to mention it's way more unstable and constantly crashes.
It's really cute that you're acting like some diehard half life veteran when you're really fucking not. They had already changed the way weapons behave for Sven Coop way before 3.0, they are nothing like their half life counter parts. The best example is that the Mp5 is more accurate, fires faster, and shoots grenades faster and straighter. In half life the Mp5 shoots waay more slow, less accurately, and the grenade kinda lazily tumbles through the air. The only thing that was the same was aesthetics. They also changed the shit out of the way the AI behaves.
The only thing they did by adding the weapons was refresh the gun play and added more life to sven coop by making it a little more interesting.
Side note, please stop abusing the word tacticool, none of the weapons in svencoop come close to tacticool
I dont see how anyone can complain about more weapons and additional features that just make the game more interesting and varied.
If you hate it so much download 3.0, jeez.
My only issue with the game is that most servers (if not all) have a REALLY shitty map selection.
People are all riled up over the guns in this?
Holy shit its just a fun mod, for fuck sakes you could make a map of giant penises with teeth in Sven Coop, its not serious at all.
My only issue with the game is that most servers (if not all) have a REALLY shitty map selection.
It's kind of the charm of it I guess, there are so many maps you never know what you are going to be playing.
Snark cafe is still there?
Snark cafe is still there?
It died a year ago.
sven coop 3.0 was the best
this is simply doesn't have the same feeling as 3.0

I too miss the old versions because it has this old nostalgic feeling, and while it did reduced this feeling of "I remember doing this!" while playing it now, the updates just made it better, especially that huge one where we had all the weapons reskinned, given different alternative fires and especially the enemies shooting while moving.
Though I can understand why some don't like the new weapons at all and would prefer to go back to the legacy half life weapons.
Wow, George Lucas is making this? I had no idea.
I was saying that it happens?
Can you not read or are you just stupid
I use to play Sven Coop a lot. Why didn't they keep pushing to move it to Half Life 2?
I hope they do push for a Sven Coop 2 that includes Half-Life 2 coop however, because I would love to see the spin they would have on hl2 coop.
Funny how I was playing Sven Coop yesterday streaming some They Hunger for my friends, too bad not many people own HL1, like my friends so they don't have a chance to play this.
Just get to version 5 so you can start on the source version already :v:

Actually it had the opposite effect on me, I used to play a lot of Sven but the updates put me off it.
The thing that bugs me about Sven Co-op is that it's barely "co-op", there is almost no interaction between players beyond ganging up on obscenely powerful enemies and healing.
It doesn't matter now really.
We have two different mods that emulate Sven Co-op for Half-Life 2 (Synergy and Obsidian Conflict) and neither of them are terribly popular.
If they aren't willing to switch Sven Co-op over to Black Mesa (and even if they did, if it doesn't work out) this mod will just keep going until it completely dies.
Actually, i'm honestly surprised anyone still plays this mod.
I have to ask myself... Why would anyone still be playing this (other than for nostalgia)?
There are some truly amazing maps out there (one where a hall breaks down and spirals around, really cool) and weirdly enough it can be such incredible fun. It's hard to describe it because I don't know any other games that I can compare it to.
Oh and there are just shittons of map series, each with a story on its own. The creativity is astounding...
I miss the days of solving puzzles and stuff in secretcity.
It's sad that nobody plays this anymore. At least, not in Australia.
Really the only thing I dislike about svencoop (well, something they could've changed) are the incredibly small half life 1 crosshairs, I miss most of my shots because I can't see it, they're such tiny dots :v:

Because it's fun?
Awesome.
I still play Sven Co-op from time to time. One of my favorite HL mods

Ah, just wondering. I use to play it a lot and follow the Sven Coop community but my interest began drifting towards other places, so I was just curious as to why.
SecretCity 2 and Tetris are pretty much 2 of the greatest things to have been made in sven coop.
Also the RE1 map(the good big one) but apparently its completely broken due to Sven Coop updates.

Escape series.

When enabled, yeah. It's attack isn't very practical because it's low damaging and slow, but it's an area of effect so it is useful in some situations when the map maker things difficulty means lots and lots of enemies.
Escape series.
Played the first one and second yesterday. Holy shit it was so frustrating but really fun.
