Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 PC supports dedicated servers
The other side of the sword is, do we really want dedicated servers? Towards the end of its lifetime I remember WaW being full of "no sprinting (it's a feature of the game you schmuck), no hip firing, no swearing" bullshit servers. Of course you could argue to find a server that isn't like that but they really start outnumbering the vanilla servers as I recall. Which is why I propose a hybrid.
I actually sort of agree, since CoD's community isn't exactly full of people who all are fair and understanding

Exactly. And I know it all boils down to "stay out of servers that are bullshit" but that's a good portion of the servers. And for stupid reasons too. No swearing in a violent game? Pffffft.

Funny when it happens in BF3 because the soldiers are swearing all the time.

Exactly. It's rated M. The rating is there because the game contains visually and audible vulgar content. Restricting players because you want to turn a Mature game into E for Everybody is just... stupid.
IW was better.
The real IW that is.
MW2 didn't have dedis probly because Activision decided to just make an awful port from console to PC and not even add dedicated server support, maybe to also fight custom stuff.
MW3 didn't have ranked servers, I have no idea why. It might aswell not have them, since they were shit, full of quickscoping only servers and only preset classes.
Nothing beats MW1 servers.
I thought MW2 and MW3 were pretty horrible all around.

I don't agree with you on MW2, but I will on MW3. MW3 was really just awful. MW2 at least brought new shit to the table. Everyone bitches about CoD being a rehash but the only one really guilty of it is MW3.
When aIW was around they added dedicated servers to MW2. Not all of them were QUICKSCOPES 360S LEGITZ ONLY. A lot were vanilla or mixed maps/gamemodes. The developers were also able to port maps from the co-op into the MP.

I only use aIW for the zombie mode
And the fact that I hacked in MW2 and got VAC'd :v:

I'm in that party that thinks they added too much shit to MW2, without changing the gameplay or map design really at all. It was just a huge clusterfuck since anyone could have a million killstreak rewards stacked up, a high-powered sniper rifle, duel shotguns, a rocket launcher, and that one perk that respawns you on a flare.

aIW is also kind of back as fourdeltaone. Haven't tried it yet.
Considering getting this for the "slightly future" aspect of it. But won't be making the mistake of buying for £40 like I did with Black Ops.. will wait for a key under £20 like I did for MW3.
The fun thing is having a 120hz monitor, COD is quite fun to play fluidly at 120fps.
I don't care how good this game will be, if the spawn system is the same as it was in the original then I won't be buying this. Not a chance.

120Hz is 60 FPS
Said this before and I'll say it again, if the first post of a thread on Facepunch is generally supportive of something the majority of the posts following will also be supportive.
Personally I think that it's just going to be the same old shit, dedicated servers shouldn't be an anticipated feature of what is standard of a multiplayer PC game. I remember with Black Ops, you had to buy servers from "authorised" Activision sellers, and they were locked down as tight as a nun. The Black Ops port was absolutely atrocious, if you didn't have a quad core you couldn't play it. But still, people for some reason are looking back and saying it was a great game? Far from it.
120Hz is 60 FPS
What the fuck am I reading?
1Hz = 1 FPS.
Here, I even have a quote from wikipedia for you:
"Frame rate is most often expressed in frames per second (FPS) and is also expressed in progressive scan monitors as hertz (Hz)."
brilliant.
black ops 1 had servers, but it was totally pointless because the game ran like shit, was utterly broken for PC and was never fixed
they can go fuck themselves

1. cover your eyes and ears with duct tape or something
then
2. have this:
you take this thing and put it
in your mind.
let's call it:
call of duty ok?
after that IMAGINE that it killed your dog and children from your sweet home
i mean
you must HATE IT TO DEATH (indeed)
this requires to type without looking at the keyboard. as your eyes are covered...
wait for it...

there you go sir now try and post again!
Valkyr junkies killed my wife and child. Stop blaming it on Call of Duty, you son of a bitch!
I honestly don't give a shit, this game is still going to suck balls. They did this for World at War, Black Ops 1, I mean it doesn't make the game better. It's a feature that should be standard in every FPS PC game.

Besides some bad CPU stutter that was fixed within the first few weeks I had no problems with Blops and neither did most of my friends.
[editline]18th June 2012[/editline]
The fact that it actually had advanced graphics settings also made it one of the better PC ports I played that year. Assassins Creed Brotherhood I am looking at you.
COD games are really really easy to hack, I hope they fix this. The reason they got hacks so fast for MW3 because they just used the MW2 hack which was still compatible.
ballin'
Cod games are more fun if playing with friends with consoles.
In my opinion. DS for CONSOLES! ffs, fml D:
Good ol' treyarch.
I kind of hope there's matchmaking too, Black Ops pretty much only had 24/7 nuketown/firing range servers the last time I played and I would like to play all of the maps after the game is a few months old.
I was constantly finding "pro realism servers" in Black-Ops. For example you were only allowed a few slect attachments and you were only allowed to fire if you were standing still/crouched else you were kicked. Was incredibly dumb.
Yep, I'll probably buy this. Treyarch actually makes really great Calladoody games.
I'd rather not spend 60 euros on a game that never goes on sale ty

Holy fuck, there is dumb shit here daily, but this is top 10 material.
Blops didn't have stopping power, was in a neat setting, had overall good balance, and dedicated servers after MW2 removed them.
Blops 2 is reintroducing dedicated servers, will more than likely have better multiplayer then the mess that was MW3, and again takes place in atleast a somewhat unique setting other than Battlefield of Duty: Modern Honor.
Infinity Ward was good up until MW2 where they started slipping, and after most of their talent left before MW3 it shows.
Black Ops was one of the worst ports I've ever experienced. For months. It's still not great for a lot of people.
You're telling me that someone at Activision is actually giving a fuck about PC?
I thought MW2 and MW3 were pretty horrible all around.
This basically.
MW2 introduced new shit and looked better than the first MW1. Really, the only downside was not having dedicated servers.
MW3 is MW2 + a few more things, a rather bad looking graphism comparing to the prequel (everything looks dull and just doesn't looks as nice as in MW2) and is one of the worst multiplayer experiences ever.
The maps are the most claustrophobic thing ever. You know the saying that "all paths lead to Rome"? Well, in MW3's maps, every path is connected with other path. You can go long and take a turn over there, or just take that turn here, it will take you to the same exact place. And the respawn system does not help one bit.
Such things weren't the problem with maps in the previous games. They could have a few bad apples here and there, but those bad apples didn't have paths that could only have 2 persons side by side at the same time and pissloads of pilars and things to get "cover" from all the way.

It works, for me at least.
