Xbone now only supports one controller?
three games? weak
Nothing will ever best this thing, solely because of the sheer number of IPs being represented

They could have pulled it off just with "All in one." Guess the marketing team goes by the magic 3 though.
Guys it's pretty simple
Xbox One = 1
Playstation Four = 4
4>1
PS4 Wins
so then people who come first place are actually losing?????
You brought it up because you are a fanboy
Oh god this is absolute gold.

I still don't get why their marketing department hasn't been fired yet.
The Playstation marketing department on the other hand deserves a fucking award or something.

I still love the Kevin Butler ads.

Microsoft did do a really funny stunt where the drove past the PS3 launch party with a giant sign saying "XBOX 360 <3 YOU"

Holy shit that was really fucking awesome.
Even better how it actually still would make sense somehow if you assumed it's in the MGS universe.
Lou Reed? Fuck yeah!

One giant fucking Sony game where all their biggest IPs come together to fight off a grave threat. Only in not such a SSB way. Like say, each character relies on skills they know from their adventures to fight off a threat. Snake being the sneaky fucking ninja that he is, kratos charging in and brutalizing anything.
Would be amazing to see a big game juggle that many gameplay mechanics.
But I thought I saw the Greatness Awaits promo on TV before?
Or maybe I'm going crazy

The Avengers but with Sony characters? I can dig it.
The Avengers but with Sony characters? I can dig it.
Essentially yes. Thank you for summing that up.
I don't know what it is, but I just feel like Playstation is much more down to earth and a console for gamers, while Xbox is much more corporate and that they don't really care about gamers.
It's commercials like these that celebrate gaming and connect with people that makes me care about them as a company.
Seems to me they're simply trying to expand their audience beyond gamers. I imagine a good chunk of their current gamer-audience will simply buy the next product either because it's comfortable to stick to what you know, or because they follow exclusive franchises.
So instead they focus marketing power on a big target group that hasn't too much contact with XBOX until this box.
If I didn't know about XBOX and saw this clip tho I still wouldn't know what they were trying to sell me. A smart TV? Some service that connects stuff? They could've put a bottle at the end instead and I would've thought they were trying to sell Soda. It all seemed so vague and unfocused most of it just went past me. PS4 was about two friends playing games and singing a silly song, pretty simple stuff.
I guess we'll see whether MS will succeed in trying to please everyone or whether the result will be so generic and "uninsulting" nobody will be interested it in. I think it's quite a daring move in itself, considering that Nintendo's already king of "fun for the whole family" and Apple got the hip teen crowd pretty covered. It's not exactly a demographic swimming in money/thirsting for hardcore titles either, so if they're selling the console at a loss and hope to recover via game sales, they might be miscalculating unless their gold accounts sell like crazy.
My 2 cents.
The main issue here is that like you said people will assume it's a smart TV. And due to the relatively large amount of smart tv's on the market these days the Xbox One will go relatively unnoticed. I honestly think that they should have emphasized more on the fact that it's a game console and not a smart tv or something. Heck it'd even be acceptable to show Call of Duty footage because a large portion of their original audience likes that game. It'd let them connect with their original audience whilst expanding to a non-"gamer" audience.
I dunno, even though it never was put on TV this was still a really fun ad for the 360.

Oh yeah, and this hilarious outtake.
What does that even mean?
In most homes you would have to switch "inputs" to use different devices. For example, my parents Xbox 360 is HDMI1 and my parents DVD player is "input 2".
The Xbox One acts as an all-in-one entertainent system and now you see this is why that ad yes.
