she is. hence the "I guess shorts are miniskirts now?" comment.
also, kotaku called the female designs in this game lolicon. yes, I'm not joking on this either.

Dear Jason Schreier,
This is a loli.

The sorceress from Dragon's Crown most certainly isn't. It's like baking a carrot cake and putting some chocolate frosting on it and saying it's a chocolate cake.
a loli wouldn't have big breasts in the first place :v:

Kotaku doesn't know what words mean, big surprise.
does kotaku have anything positive?
does kotaku have anything positive?
There are (or at least used to be) some bafflingly stupid articles about shit the writers did in their everyday lives spun to sound video game related. Highlights include a guy bragging about getting laid on a Sonic-themed bed, A guy talking about how a lighting setup at the 2012 Olympics supposedly looked like GLaDoS, and a guy talking about a picture of a Gaben pillowcase he found.
It's not really positive but it's slightly amusing in how awful it is.
a guy bragging about getting laid on a Sonic-themed bed
every time kotaku tries to write an article about how gamers are sexist and kotaku isn't, I just remember that article and laugh.
GOD Kotaku is awful. I could start my own Jorunalism site and instantly be more credible.
Anyways, I don't really like the style, but the game itself seems alright. Will probably check it out at some point.
the animation and rendering is pretty nice from the bits I've seen, but like everybody else I've just been really confused by the amount of badonkadonk
on the other side though, everybody bitches about the usual body type variances being idealized to the point of a single acceptable look

Bonus points, those pictures are from one of many, many "how to" books by Chris Hart which are all awfully misinformative and detrimental to young artists looking for these kinds of things

I'd say it's more like baking a plain cake, carrot cakes are at least somewhat like chocolate cake in appearance. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't even know what lolicon meant.
Still not as exaggerated as TERA. God damn armor with vaginas hanging out

preview the medium armor from TA on a charr and you get "Georgia O'Keefe meets H.R. Geiger"

whoops thought I was in the guild wars thread
there was a thing I saw the other day that pinned GW2 for having "unnecessary female armor" and it used a rather boring chestpiece as an example, and I pointed out TERA as well
the designs of the girls in the game are stupid but really theyre fucking harmless
this whole "issue" is just kotaku's attention-getter of the week. keep in mind that this site is the same website that runs articles from a guy in japan about what color of vending machine used panties he likes to sniff at one in the morning
kotaku is basically the fox news of the internet. they'll run whatever will get people angry and commenting on their website, so they found a japanese game with big boobs and decided to harp on it because feminism is the loudest thing right now.
some of the designs are pretty tame actually, didn't know that

reminds me of the time my friends convinced me to play D&D and I just fucked about the whole time with a ranger that fights primarily via squirrel army
every time kotaku tries to write an article about how gamers are sexist and kotaku isn't, I just remember that article and laugh.
Now let's be fair here, that was the "old" Kotaku. Back then they were all about dumb "us gamers" nerd culture with a splash of weeaboo. The "new" Kotaku is the exact opposite of that: they complain about how gamers are meaner than Nazis and that games are too hard for people that have never played them.
And they aren't even the only people doing this shit. Gaming journalists know they aren't taken as seriously as journalists of other mediums and they're blaming people who don't constantly treat games like high art. FP complains about ShackNews being boring, but nowadays the ones that aren't boring tend to have their head up their ass.

It is just me or is her head really small compared to the rest of her body?
It's like the proportions are all fucked up...
Also why is the quiver on the back of her leg instead of attached to her back?

it's part of the artstyle. i kind of like the silly exaggeration of everything.
the disproportionate shit is fine as long as it looks appealing and is fairly consistent.
Still looks like a hell of a lot of fun. So I don't really give a shit.

This is exactly what I was talkin' about. Past few years, the "us gamers" geek culture thing was on the rise, so Kotaku ran asinine articles about really accessible shit so that they could get as many hits as possible.
This year, feminism in gaming is a legitimate issue that is on the mouths of a lot of people, and Kotaku is hitching on to that by creating controversies from nothing in order to get as many hits as possible, making both feminists and gamers look shitty in the process.
Oh man they all look like women hentai artists make to defy logic, proportions and physics

your avatar is a surfing ninja and you're asking why an elf has a quiver on her leg?
I find it amazing how this art has literally been around for two or so years and just now people are having issues with it.

Indeed. Vanillaware has made some fantastic games, all of them with fantastic artwork. Hell, Dragon's Crown's designs and trailers have been around for quite some time. Of course it's around nearing release when Kotaku tries to paint Vanillaware as a bunch of 15 year olds with no artistic skill or credibility. Basically just slandering them as much as they can.
Which makes me fucking sick. They put a lot of work into the art. Here's a cool article from someone I follow on twitter about the art in Dragon's Crown:
http://art-eater.com/2013/03/from-mickey-mouse-to-jesus-the-latest-dragons-crown-trailer-is-full-of-epic-homages/
i seriously don't get what the big deal is when a character has big breasts. most people who seem to have a problem with that is men when the average female reaction is just "holy shit those are big tits" and that's the end of it.
hell I have more of a problem with the design of the amazon, I mean, why the fuck is a melee character with a huge axe not wearing armor, i mean, i get it, it's a stylistic homage to old games and shit like xena the warrior princess, but it doesn't really cut it for me since there is already a mostly naked character.
and no, i mean the dwarf

i mean he's a shirtless man wearing a skirt.

she is in comparison far more dressed. i mean, yeah, she's got huge tits, a tiny waist, and big hips, then again sexuality has always been part of the witches' lore. witches are MEANT to be mysterious, seductive women, i mean that's pretty much what grants them that unnatural power of suggestion. we don't have to run and cower every single time we see a fictitious character have sex appeal, i mean, they are fictitious. superman and all sorts of superheroes with absolutely fucking impossible bodies have been around for years and as far as I can see it hasn't caused geeks to suddenly feel the massive urge to gain pounds of muscle to look closer to their favorite superheroes.

Yeah I love the art in Grand Knights History too. Shame it didn't get a release over here. Maybe if this is successful they may consider an improved re-release.

I dunno. dwarf fortress taught me dwarves don't really give a fuck and dwarf slayers in warhammer wear almost nothing apart from pants too.

if i remember correctly, the trailer for the sorceress said that she modified her body to be distracting to enemies or something, so there's that too

As far as fantasy female designs go, that's in the realm that it looks pretty cool.
As opposed to the other ones in the game. Just wear an actual shirt or something.
Doesn't skull girls pull the same shit, animated wobbly tits etc
actually most fighting games that have females tend to include it, even pixel art ones
