Oh man, another five person app company is about to make off like fucking bandits and ride golden mopeds into the sunset.
How do they still have money?
ITT: These guys are going to be SUCCESSFUL? MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!
Yahoo sure are making a lot of interesting purchases lately. First Aviate. Then Tumblr. Now Snapchat.
How do they still have money?
I'm really confused. What DOES Yahoo do these days? I cannot think of a single service I use from them.
Yahoo sure are making a lot of interesting purchases lately. First Aviate. Then Tumblr. Now Snapchat.
How the fuck do these apps and sites make money?. Every time I browse tumblr I haven't seen a single ad or anything. I looked at Aviate's google store page and I didn't see anything about ads or paying for the app so I don't know where they are getting money from.

It's a recent addition, so there's not much on whether or not that's actually bringing in substantial amounts of cash. for Tumblr, ads aren't showing up on user's blogs, but rather the main dashboard, where posts from who you follow collectively show up. On mobile or PC, you'll occasionally see ads for new TV shows, movies, or businesses mixed in (every 100 posts or so (it's not too annoying)) with whatever shows up from who you're following. Not sure how well that's doing since the XKit add-on (incredibly popular and basically required) had something written up for it to hide those posts like a day after they started showing up. Aviate's just a phone home screen mod. dunno what's up with that. For both of the first two, it's more "Sponsors" than "Advertisements", because it's usually just one different company/program ad holding the spotlight per week, shown many times over.

The only "advertisements" on Tumblrs dashboard is for other blogs, and those are staff-selected, not payed for ad spots. [t]http://i.imgur.com/DWvLlFY.png[/t]
Maybe if you don't use an ad blocker, sure. I do and never see any of that.
I have never seen that.
I believe they used to have it on the desktop but got rid of it after backlash. That crap is still on the mobile version though and it's awful.
I'm on and off about adblockers; for example since I only watch YouTube videos of people I like I allow ads on YouTube so I can support those people.
tbh, im more interested in the facebook article they linked http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-29156436
Maybe they will fix the shitty android version of Snapchat
I'm really confused. What DOES Yahoo do these days? I cannot think of a single service I use from them.
From the looks of things their interests lie in company investments.
Maybe they will fix the shitty android version of Snapchat
It works just fine for me?
