It's not really noir, it's heavily lacking in atmosphere (pretty much the finale chase was the only noir part of the game) The game aged REALLY badly, like, seriously, the super-dooper animated faces thing looks like arse today. Gameplay had a really innovative concept - you dont play as a detective in every game! - but it doesn't really play fair (Starting from the set of answers - for some reason they replaced bully/force with lie, coach with truth, which ends up in situations such as "Hmm, I think this lady might be forgetting something, therefore I will doubt her statement", and then phelps screams and calls her a noosy old hag) And it really feels awful in game - sometimes, even if you have all the stuff figured out, the game outright traps you in awful dialogue and forces to make a wrong decision. It's actually quite common for a person to say truth, but games considers you pressing the truth button as a wrong choice - you'd have to press the lie button, and then phelps would ask the person something different and THEN you'd hear a lie Everything outside of the chases and general gameplay is awful. The world is quite large, but it's simply empty and hella boring. The main story is simply shit. Sorry to say, but if you want to buy this game now, it's way too late to appreciate the only thing it had going. But if you do, prepare for some really tough time trying to enjoy it.
I agree with most of your points but I still think it's an enjoyable experience when you get it for cheap. Sometimes the game is very confusing when you're trying to interrogate people, sometimes Phelps just spouts out the most nonsensical shit. Also it's really hard to distinguish between doubt or lie because it is not entirely clear. Also sometimes you can show them evidence wish would make sense but the game just doesn't allow it because it's not the proper item. It's still a unique game that is enjoyable to play.
