I for one welcome the future of games releasing with half-assed writing only to be patched in later.
Update: No I don't.
They better do it right this time, not a lot of developers are given a second chance like this.
I've got the feeling Bioware didn't really plan this out well. They just shat out a twist ending to try and be clever with their game, failed, and are now trying to desperately catch their fleeing fanbase back.
The DLC was obviously already planned (hence the message when you "win" the game), but I doubt it will actually give answers and closure. It will probably be stuff like an explanation on how and why was Joker in a mass relay instead of fighting against the reapers with everyone else, or how did Anderson's resistance on earth went.
The game is pretty much already fucked and will still be remembered as the one game that showed Bioware had no clue how to create proper DLC gates
How will it beat victorious and uplifting though?
They don't even realize what fans are angry about. Atleast the core of what they're angry about. And like this article says, they aren't going to change what people didn't like. The fact that the choices throughout every game have no impact on the end. You can have the same 3 endings no matter what. They are going to just 'add on' to their ending, it seems.

But but investigating and fixing the fundamental problem would be haaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrd.

Yeah, it would take much, much longer than a month to make all the additional voice acting, all the animations, new assets, etc.
BROWN EXPLOSIONS
The trilogy's conclusion has inspired a level of fervent outrage and activism that real problems like poverty and world hunger could only dream of.
ShackNews is getting political.
BROWN EXPLOSIONS
If Hepler gets anywhere near the repairations, then this is likely to ensue.
If only they still had the guy whose shins were made out of carp...

Seems like dry humor to me, nothing wrong with that. Like, incredibly dry.
DLC: An ending that gives clarity and closure available now for only 19.99$
Responses have ranged from "it was alright" to "BioWare must burn."
That made me laugh for a bit, they must burn is a bit.. overboard.

And that sentence you quoted is so fucking stupid and ignorant it hurts my brains.
The number of people who played Mass Effect let alone people who are actually trying to change the ending is incredibly inferior to the total number of people worldwide fighting against poverty and world hunger. People fighting against those two things are also much better financially funded than any of the people trying to change ME3's ending. Bill Gates alone has an association that is worth more than the entire savings of all the people who try to push bioware into remaking the end of their game.
Glad they're listening to the fans in this manner.

It's actually kind of funny, since there's that group that raised like $700,000 to go to charity to show Bioware how peeved they were at the ending.

It was $70,000, but that's still insane, even if it is for charity.

Well that's $70,000 Bioware is never gonna see.
So basically they ARE going to make you pay for an actual ending after all.

under the guise of "lol you asked for it, and we gotta eat!"

or time constraints forced them to shit out a terrible ending
or time constraints forced them to shit out a terrible ending
If this was the case then Bioware has a very strange way to manage their time, because that would mean the script was the very last thing they created for the game.
"What's that? The fans are dissatisfied with the ending? Surely the best solution is to extend the shitbad ending we put in place rather than fix it!"
I want an ending only available to maleshep, where he masturbates into the Crucible and causes everyone in the universe to become Shepard.
Why does everyone fucking assume they're gonna sell this? seriously, where does it say, "hey guys, better ending coming up, get your 20 bucks ready!" I have not seen anything to even imply they will charge for it, and if they do, then that was EA's decision.
I hope Bioware realises they can't charge for the epilogue or everyone will be ridiculously mad.
This is EA we are talking about, I'm sure they would charge you for patches if they could.

FTFY.
