spending that long doing something boring as fuck (like spending the combined equivalent of 173.5 days of nothing but farming the same few dozen herb nodes on a tiny island in a game) takes a lot of perseverance to keep going without giving up
like
imagine spending every free moment for two years streaming yourself doing nothing but picking weeds in a game
I put about 1,000 hours into Dark Souls 1 on PC before I was finished completely with it, and that took almost a year to the day
I can't imagine playing the game two times as often for two times as long, that just seems nuts, especially when you're doing something so monotonous
i hope he did other stuff to entertain himself while he was grinding

Sounds like somebody is incredibly jealous and is trying to lessen the value of the achievements of another person.
The only thing I could be jealous of is his state of mind. I really wish I didn't have the drive and know-how to be as successful as I am today and could just sit there telling myself I'm "achieving" something by grinding mindlessly. Yes I do play games, but I do not trophy my accomplishments that mean nothing in the real world. I don't see how you can tell me I'm being childish when showing off achievements you've made in a video game apparently isn't?

lol, yeah he's jealous of the guy who spent almost 200 solid cumulative days of his life doing a menial task in a video game so he could get on the news while pretending the real reason is "because he wanted to know if it could be done"
4,164 hours on the starter island? Jesus H. Christ... that's like, well, that's like being stuck in any game tutorial for 4,164 hours. I don't even know what else to say.
Claims like this are pretty hilarious without any proof.
My wishful thinking.
imagine spending every free moment for two years streaming yourself doing nothing but picking weeds in a game for two years
I'd rather impale myself with a very large spoon than endure such a thing.
Then again he was probably watching TV, or reading while he was doing this.
I fucking love how there is all those people following him around. :v:

Good on him if it makes him happy, but personally I find it incredibly sad to think someone's life revolves around something so trivial and pointless
Perseverance is a good thing assuming you don't waste it on doing something so objectively useless

you're trying very hard to trivialize his achievement which says a lot about your character
you're trying very hard to trivialize his achievement which says a lot about your character
Not really. I've done some pretty cool shit in games that I'm fairly proud of, a few of which happen to be in WoW, but I also acknowledge that those achievements are so trivial they barely warrant the term applied to them. It doesn't offend me if someone calls them trivial because that's precisely what they are.
This is no exception. Spending 4,100 hours getting to Level 90 in World of Warcraft without choosing a faction is definitely an achievement but he's never going to be able to use that to pay his bills or get laid or anything like that. Video game achievements are, by their nature, about as trivial as achievements can get.

I didn't say his achievements weren't trivial, I think they are
but going out of one's way to repeatedly remind everyone that this is trivial and serves no purpose (which we're all aware of) says a lot about a person
next time, reading comprehension for u
