KotOR may very well be better than KotOR 2. But 2 is still fan-fucking-tastic. If you don't have it, or haven't played it, what the fuck is wrong with you? Get it
Because I was never able to get it to properly run.
Does this release mean it has better compatibility now?
Should I play it from the start with the restoration mod?
Yes, definitely.

The restoration mod makes the ending way better and puts back in some amazing stuff that was cut out like The Factory.
Damnit I just bought this on disk a week ago too.
The restoration mod is amazing but so is the game by it's self with out it, I don't know you definitely will love it playing with out, then use the content mod a second time which allows you to appreciate it as well.
Hell I beat it like 20 times without it. But if you want the full experience first time through then I say go for it.
While Kotor 2 might lack in the presentation, it's story is unrivaled. I really wanted a Kotor 3 because of it, but instead we got the old republic which basically bent kotor over.
Kotor 3 wouldn't have been any good story wise unless it was done by Obsidian, which wouldn't have happened.
Is it true that Lucas cancelled production of disks for this game because it didn't fit in with his Mary Sue vision of the Jedi?
I've heard that story here and there, but I don't quite believe it, or at least I don't blame Lucas directly (call me ignorant, but I don't believe he's that involved with all the comics and games and stuff that come out of Star Wars licencing deals).
Besides, I've still seen PC copies of this at Target, so it's still hanging around a bit.
This is amazing I literally have an erection right now.
Target and Best Buy near me didn't carry it anymore and the closet GameStop that had it was three states away.

They discontinued production and distribution years ago. Only way to find a copy was to get lucky.

The best part about Kotor 2 was that if it was never rushed then Kotor 3 would have been last gens Mass Effect 3, only good.
They literally shipped the xbox version with scratches on the disk :v:
Oh fuck yes.
I think I fucked up years ago and read a major spoiler about this game: does anyone think it'll completely ruin my enjoyment if I know that [sp]Kreia is evil[/sp] from the get-go
You can literally tell by her voice.

[sp]Kreia[/sp] has creepy eyes, a creepy voice, and a creepy attitude. Hell, when [sp]you meet her she's taking a nap in the fucking morgue[/sp]. If you didn't see that coming, well...I think you'll do just fine knowing about it.

If you consider Kreia to be evil then you completely missed the point of the story.
I'm going to pick this up for my birthday.
If you consider Kreia to be evil then you completely missed the point of the story.
Yeah [sp] The boss fight with her was her final lesson to you. She made you fight her because she knew you would become stronger by defeating her.[/sp]
Yeah [sp] The boss fight with her was her final lesson to you. She made you fight her because she knew you would become stronger by defeating her.[/sp]
Everything she ever did in the game was [sp] to make you stronger.[/sp]
also Darth Nihilus
yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees
Sadly I have yet to fully finish this game, I go full-scrub and get rolled at the end of the game all the time, but I still love the shit out of it. I just REALLY need to get around to actually beating the thing.

Yeah. Throughout the game, when she lectures you, she's not doing it becuase she's an asshole. She's trying to teach you that there is no good and evil, the universe is not black and white. All of your choices, whether you made them for good or selfish reasons, have consequences. And you need to always keep that in mind.
The LP for kotor 2 is right about how they basically forgot to write for Bao-Dur for the third act of the game, sadly.
If you consider Kreia to be evil then you completely missed the point of the story.
okay cool, it seems I practically know nothing about her character anyway
think I might get this
Everything she ever did in the game was [sp] to make you stronger.[/sp]
also Darth Nihilus
yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees
Yeah Nihilus was pretty sweet but to bad they retconned him and most of the game in the Revan book. Also for some reason in that book Revan loved the Exile even though in the game it's strongly hinted at that [sp] Revan hated you because of your abilities[/sp]
Too bad the TOR writers childishly took a shit over Kotor 2's characters and lore
Fuck yes this is the best thing
Wish LucasArts weren't such cockbags about this and hadn't forced Obsidian to have the game finished by Christmas, that was the reason for all the cut content.
Now only if I had any money, my copy died ages ago and the only other one I could get is my friend's, which is in Italian. :v:
I never understood the hype for Kotor, I bought it because everyone said its one of the best games, and a lot of people say it, but I really couldnt stand playing it, I think its because I didnt grow up with it or something.

The Knights of the Old Republic series was loved by a lot of people because of the plot twist and because of the amount of atmosphere in the games. It was also liked because of the environments and because of how it made you feel like you were becoming a Jedi.

Congratulations! You disliked a game.
This game was pretty great. It would have been even better if they weren't forced to rush it out for the holiday season. I should play these games again...
