Microsoft already has a bad history when it comes to acquired game developers (Rare, etc), I don't think they are willing to add Mojang to that list that easily.
Did you know john Carmac offered to rewrite MineCraft and make it compatible with the oculus rift? I guess that won't happen now...

I'd gladly pay for optimized minecraft with working API
