the wii u has more than double the number of exclusive titles that the PS4 has.
soooo...
Nintendo has the stigma of being for children, and sometimes their actions really doesn't help otherwise.
And from what I've seen none of those exclusives really justify buying a console for it.
I can only really think of Smash and Bayonetta 2.
Nah, the d-pad is just an alternative to the joystick in Doom 64.
Wasn't Z the fire button?
I'm not sure since I set my controls to be more like Turok because I don't like the default layout.

bayo 2 and 1's port, smash, xenoblade chronicles, (debatably) splatoon, etc proves that there's a bigger market than just for kids
This is a shame. I have a hardcore nintendo fan friend who just won't talk about this kind of stuff with me.
They are in this ignorant stage of just thinking of Nintendo as a 'fun' company that make 'fun' things and whenever I bring up that they are failing as a company they just say 'I don't care' as if everything will be okay.
It's not okay.
But I wish it was okay.

Nintendo isn't failing as a company. One console not doing well isn't going to kill them.

One of which is on a handheld and the other is wasted potential on the console it's exclusive to.
Personally I couldn't care less about whether or not Nintendo gets third-party support. I buy Nintendo consoles to play Nintendo games. It would've been nice if the Wii U was successful, and I hope Nintendo continues to do well enough to keep making games, but it doesn't affect my enjoyment of them.
One of which is on a handheld and the other is wasted potential on the console it's exclusive to.
It would be even more wasted potential not being around since Nintendo was the only one who backed it.
Nintendo isn't failing as a company. One console not doing well isn't going to kill them.
One console not doing well won't, but multiple consoles not doing well will. It also doesn't help that all the recent Mario titles have been very formulaic and a bit of "hey remember this from the old games?", and that the latest console Metroid to come out was a complete atrocity.
I have always loved Nintendo, but right now they seem to be depending on their name and the name of their IPs to push sales, and the games are starting to get very stale. And when your 1st party games are the same as the older ones with a newer coat of paint, and your 3rd party games basically don't exist, then why bother getting the console at all?
I think the only smart thing about the WiiU right now is it's probably a huge pain in the ass to make an emulator for what with the portable screen. Though I'm sure people said the same thing about the DS too.
nintendo failing? hah.. just look at their revenue
the amiibos are literally money printing machines, as is the 3ds
It would be even more wasted potential not being around since Nintendo was the only one who backed it.
Maybe they should've backed the WiiU a little bit more while they were at it so the console could support something like fucking anti-aliasing.
the wii u has more than double the number of exclusive titles that the PS4 has.

It would be weird if it didnt, after 3 years of being released compared to 2
Besides, most games you can get on the ps4, you can get on the xbone or on the PC.
Had nintendo titles went multiplatform instead of wiiu only, nobody would save it.
Problem with the exclusives, is that theres just those. You want to play anything else other than those? Fat chance, get another console.
Pretty much how I treat my ps3 when I don't have a pc, but for different reasons.
One of which is on a handheld and the other is wasted potential on the console it's exclusive to.
Despite Bayonetta's overt sexuality it actually seems natural for her to be a WiiU exclusive since it's the only console these days that knows what fun in its purest and simple form is. Therefore it Nintendo were the only way a game like Bayonetta 2 was going to get funded.
I'm not a Nintendo fanboy, I'm white enough to own all 3 current gen consoles and a gaming PC. Of that group the PS4 gets the most use (and the XBone the least by far), but that's only because of HD remakes of PS3 games. The console I tend to have the most fun with the WiiU. It's a console that feels entirely about fun with friends, I also went to a monhun event with my 3DS and again even though I don't even like monhun that much it was great fun.
To me the WiiU is not a commercial success but a critical one, which is pretty much the opposite of the PS4 and the XBone which both made a boatload of money and that's about it.
I'll have to admit, while I love the games on PS4, I have had the most fun with games on the Wii U, they feel like they have so much better.

And you can say Smash and Splatoon are fun, but with Nintendo going out of their way to make the online expierence child friendly, they're not going to draw anyone away from the bigger games.
And I mean the complete lack of voice chat, lobbies, match making, hell I dont think you can even select the map you're playing on in splatoon.
Smash 4's online is pretty lacking in features as well. Probably for the same reason of being easily accessible for kids.
The problem with the WiiU is that the casual market they're aiming for already owns a Wii or have phones.

Considering Nintendo could afford decades of failed consoles, they have a right to not care.
Why should they give a shit? They just want to play fun games.
Do keep in mind the GameCube was considered a market failure.
The thing with probably the best games of its time.
Numbers don't really mean everything.

What a stupid and misinformed statement to make.
What makes you think the Wii U does not support anti-aliasing? Do you know what anti-aliasing is?
This is up to the game engine, not the god damn console hardware. You could have anti-aliasing on the SNES if you wanted.
There are numerous games on the Wii U that take advantage of various anti-aliasing techniques, just as with any console released the past 10 years.
Even more amusingly, Nintendo actually pioneered console anti-aliasing: the Nintendo 64 was the first system to natively support it, even the PS1 did not. (The SNES technically had a form of anti-aliasing that was native, but it actually uses a different property, isn't effective with 3D and only works on background layers and thus was basically unused by everything but Kirby's Dream Land 3. The Nintendo 64's worked in all scenarios on all objects).
If you're talking about specific games, all of the consoles this gen underperform so badly that even several PS4 games (including exclusives) disable anti-aliasing just to perform reasonably.

this is such a terrible point, the most funny part is that one of the most popular PS4 exclusive games Bloodbourne doesn't have AA either
:downs:

it even runs at 30 fps and yet the game is a wild success
[editline]6th February 2016[/editline]
fuck, I personally don't even use AA/vsync/a bunch of settings in many games I play
its not actually detrimental to having fun in a game

Ps4 was released later...
Once cemu can emulate games in playable state you can put the nail in the coffin for the wii-u.
Once cemu can emulate games in playable state you can put the nail in the coffin for the wii-u.
By the time that happens the NX will probably be out already.
Once cemu can emulate games in playable state you can put the nail in the coffin for the wii-u.
It won't be for a very long time
By the time it DOES run well (Probably around 2-3 years from now) Nintendo will be already making the next console after NX
Only reason why Dolphin emu runs so well is because the GC was easily crack-able, and most of the coding transferred over to the Wii. Wii U doesn't have something like that (yet).
