Why should a developer have to explicitly say content is subject to change for pre-release footage of heavily scripted "gameplay" footage.
Because they advertise it as "SEE THIS? THIS IS WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO GET"
This is why I don't pre-order games.
I think this game definitely deserves a second chance. Look at what a leap Assassins Creed 2 was to the first game. If they can pull that kind of magic off again I think they will succeed with Watch Dogs. Even Far Cry 4 is looking to be a great sequel to 3.
8 million copies shipped does not mean 8 million copies sold.
Because they advertise it as "SEE THIS? THIS IS WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO GET"
And if you truly believe that you are the sucker they want you to be.
And if you truly believe that you are the sucker they want you to be.
And that makes it okay to lie about it?
For fuck's sake. An E3 trailer and a 10 minute section of gameplay 2 years before the games release is not false advertising. You people act like they didn't have months of advertising which showed the game how it is and the E3 gameplay and trailer were the only media before release.
Alot of AC hate in this thread. I loved the AC series (barring AC III fuck that). Sure it's literally the same game everytime, but I have tons of fun with its gameplay.
Dunno about AC hate, I'm excited for Unity even if it has no female player model.
AC4 was plenty different cuz it wasnt the same team working on it It would have benefited being an entirely new title since it has almost nothing to do with AC anyway.
And if you truly believe that you are the sucker they want you to be.
This is literally victim blaming. While, of course, people could be more wary of what they're looking at, it's a thousand times worse that the deception exists to begin with.

No why should E3 be treated different?
The usual BS of people thinking that what is shown at E3 will actually represent the final game. E3 is just a showcase of lies and false advertisement.
It always has been.
And if you truly believe that you are the sucker they want you to be.
Yeah, we all know that. It goes without saying. That doesn't make it okay for them to say it like that. What point are you trying to make? That's what this is. We know that it's possible to achieve that level of graphical quality. And they advertise it as, like I said, "SEE THIS? THIS IS WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO GET." I honestly don't know how you can argue otherwise. Realistically, am I going to expect what they're showing me? Fuck no. That doesn't mean I'm going to stop thinking them assholes for presenting a finished product at a lower quality than previously advertised. Stop coming up with excuses for companies to do this.
I liked the game, but it seems they will well and truly run it into the ground.
It IS Ubisoft so... yes
