They introduce the Didact like some built-up supervillian that we all knew was bad news, but I had no idea who he was until I looked it up. He was a terrible villian anyway. No personality, motivation, or character. He was just a generic "grr im bad and kill things grrr" bad guy.

The Forerunners as a whole were ruined, instead of being a selfless race who were willing to destroy themselves and the flood to save the galaxy, they were just selfish aliens who wanted to obtain the mantle. Then theres the bits involving ancient humans, in the first book of the Forerunner trilogy its implied that the humans were just a bunch of assholes who attacked Forerunner worlds to use as a foothold in the war against the flood. Then they say "naw fuck that" and make it so the humans are really good guys who are just trying to stop the infection spreading. It just feels like a terrible fan fiction. Until Halo 4, pretty much EVERY OTHER GAME implied that the Humans were descendants of the Forerunners. 343 Guilty Spark outright states it at the end of Halo 3. Now all of a sudden Forerunners and Humans are completely different species and for some reason the Forerunners decided humans were cool after having a huge war with them. That's my personal problem with Halo 4. Frankly, if I ever feel like playing the Halo games again, I'm just going to play the Bungie-made ones and pretend the 343 games (including Halo: Anniversary, which cut out a few lines that had the same "humans are forerunner" implications) never existed.
